We ordered fish and chips, chicken strips and fries and the brisket sandwich. The fish is lightly battered by one of their beers and was very flaky and fresh. The chicken battered the same and equally delicious. The brisket sandwich was yummy, they serve the brisket several ways and the sandwich was our choice. Beer is very good and they have a variety of choices. A must try when in the area.

Based on the positive reviews, we tried Higher Ground for a pizza lunch. Gotta say the pizza just doesn't impress. We tried a specialty (The Man Pizza loaded with meats) and a cheese & pepperoni pie. Both suffered from sparsity - the sauce was skimpy and the topping meager - the pie are only about 16" diameter, and at more than an inch of crust edge was bare on each, Cheese was a minimum volume as well. The crumbled meat toppings (sausage and ground beef) were quite dried out. The pepperoni was thin as paper and truly meager in count. Overall this thin crust pie barely earns a mediocre rating. The wife did praise her Tomato-Basil soup appetizer, and I agreed. But $40 later, couldn't help but judge Higher Ground not just a poor value but a poor pizza option. I'm sure the beer is just swell, but don't come for the pizza pie, folks.JimSorry to hear the pizza wasn’t up to your standard. Appreciate the feedback. I am also concerned you may have been charged incorrectly, if the one pizza and soup cost you $40 dollars, should have been $20. Please reach out via email so we can get that corrected. Eight of us dined here for family get together. We spent 3 hours in here enjoying drinks and dinner. The place was full and busy but well run and service was good throughout our visit. The menu here is incredible. So much variety, right from King Crab and seafood entrees to your burgers and Fisha nd Chips. Our group ordered various dishes from entree salads, steak, chicken, fish and burgers. The portion sizes are fantastic and presentation excellent. All of our orders came out together, all fresh, hot and well prepared. It's rare that you get consensus when 8 people dine out, but not the case here. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, no issues, all excellent!! I had the Mahi Mahi, was a wonderful dish, large portion and well done. Soup of the day was an outstanding chicken/mushroom, three of us had it and all found it excellent. We all had drinks, some of us two. Great bar service here and tap beers. Prices are extremely reasonable. Our entire bill was $153.00 for 8 people....A very good price for outstanding meals and drinks for a night out. Will enjoy coming here again when in Hamilton...!!RamboNWAlberta, Wow, thank you for the fantastic review. As a restaurant owner, this is as good as I could ask for in a review. Thanks for taking the time to write this. We hope to see you again.Tom
