Reviewed By Just-do-it-laterI rarely write reviews but Alper Motel in Taipei deserves a five star review. I had to say that the hotel front entrance was not too impressive. Nonetheless the service provided was exceptional. We stayed there for one night two days ago. The two male receptionists were very courteous and accomodating. It makes a big difference when you feel welcome. Then we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the room was. Can you imagine to have your own jacuzzi and steam room in your own room? Its that incredible. Even a five star hotel would not have all that in one room. Its conveniently located 5 min walk from the MRT station. We were in a hurry and they delivered the breakfast to our room. We will definitely return if we visit Taipei again. Thank you for the great services and make our stay so enjoyable.

Reviewed By yvonnegibbI had a lovely stay recently. The hotel was very clean and the room very cosy with tea and coffee making facilities. I found the staff very friendly and helpful and the location was fantastic, a 5 minute walk to the subway. The free cookies were a nice treat.

Reviewed By sai1004The room we occupy was excellent. Very clean and the staffs are very kind and helpful. Foods were very delicious. If I will go back to Taiwan I will still choose this hotel. The hotel is near MRT station and there are nearby convenience store and pharmacy.

Good value and good location
Reviewed By Roger TThe staff was friendly and the check-in was smooth. Unfortunately the room 306 had an air conditioning problem so they kindly moved me to room 506 after the first night. The new room was fine, but the WiFi was not too good on the 5th floor. The rooms have no windows but they are well-equipped. There are no wardrobes as is common in Asian hotels - there were only 3 coat hangers. There were plenty of bathroom amenities though - toobhbrush, toothpaste, razor and shaving cream, shower cap, comb and cotton wool buds and soap bar. There were shower gel and shampoo dispensers in the shower. MAJOR ADVANTAGE: UNIVERSAL PUG SOCKETS!! The plug sockets allow you to plug British plugs in directly with no need for an adaptor! Two bottles of mineral water provided free of charge daily. The room only had a shower. Breakfast is provided and vouchers are given for either Food Life (a nice cafe nearby) offering your choice of toasted sandwich, hash brown and tea/coffee, or at a cafe outside the entrance offering a pastry and hot drink. The entrance to the hotel is a bit bizarre - it is a deserted area with a lift to the 3rd floor reception area. Don't be put off though - even though the entrance area is desolate the hotel inside is fine!

Unique experience - even for a local!

I'm from Taiwan but as my parents now live in the countryside, we wanted a place to stay that was convenient and unique. This hotel (motel?) was definitely designed for adults for a "fun night", but I think they're really capturing the tourist market since each room is unique and fun. The whole drive-in thing was interesting to see, and the room was really nicely decorated. The rooms are huge. We took the one with the merry-go-round horses. The jacuzzi was large enough for 2, there was a steam room, plus they had all the amenities you might need after a wild night: skin care products, make up remover, disposable underwear, hairties, and condoms! The complimentary minibar was also very a nice touch. The bed was soft and comfortable, and while there was KTV, it was too late for us to use it. Some parts of the room needs updating, like the carpet was quite worn and a little dinghy, and I definitely avoided the two armchairs as they didn't look quite clean. The breakfast in the morning was great, a good choice of hot and cold food, both western and eastern. They reminded us of our check-out time which was appreciated. They also gave us an umbrella to borrow when we went out. All in all, my boyfriend and I had a great time. It's right next to Miramar and the MRT, and there's plenty of nice restaurants nearby. For us, we stayed here for the experience, so 1 night was plenty, and worth it. We stayed somewhere cheaper and more central the other nights.

Great location and practical amenities
Reviewed By MaggieA522For a hotel that ranks somewhere between two and three stars, the ARK is an excellent choice for those prioritizing location in Taipei. Located walking distance to two major subway lines, the hotel is also adjacent to Da'an park as well as local eats, making it a great place to drop off your bags and head off to explore Taipei. The hotel is able to offer tour options from the front desk, however, these services are provided by a travel agent. I have already stayed at the ARK twice for relatively long trips (>5 days each), and having the laundry machine available is a huge luxury in my opinion. There is only one machine and its shared by everyone, so you might have to wait which is annoying, but going home with clean clothes is one less thing to worry about. It also means that when I travel, I don't have to carry as many clothes with me. The bathroom provides all the basic amenities except body lotion. Would recommend you bring some from home.

Notice was informed that pump was spoilt. 2nd day, the hot water system was spoilt and had to bathe in icy cold water. Breakfast option not too many.

There's a grocery store in the basement and a 7-11 and Mos Burger at the ground. Just a few steps from the bus stop. Ample restaurants nearby and a very good bakery store a corner across. If given a chance to come back, I will choose this hotel again. Economical and practical. Though it is in the 5th floor of an old building, there are 2 elevators and the rooms are very nice.

Nice hotel with fantastic staff
Reviewed By emmaf443I definitely recommend this hotel. I stayed here during a difficult period in my life. The staff were very accommodating with my many requests. Maggie the Director, is a particularly lovely and offered to help me even after I left the hotel. The breakfast area is very relaxing and the breakfast is above average.Pretty good value for money. The only regret is that some of the rooms do not have a view but were described on hotels.com as "street view". The staff immediately changed my room upon request. They and I informed hotels.com so hopefully it will be changed soon!

Good location and value for money
Reviewed By anncuencaVery good location. Near historical sites. Behind Longshan temple, 3 minute walk to Bopilao Historical Block, 15mins to Tianhou Temple and 5mins to MTR station. The room is clean as you see in the photos. For sleep & go this hotel is a good option. The only cons is that they have no elevator so if your room is at 4th floor just like us you will endure the stair. But overall it's a thumbs up!
