Very worn out
Reviewed By CadhlanWouldn’t be my choice of a hotel, if it wouldn’t be the only hotel in Varkaus. The room was very worn out, smelled very very stale, there were stains in the curtains ans arm chair. Room was good size, but that’s about the good things about it. The pillows were so high, so I couldn’t use them for sleeping, had to use towel instead. Reception staff was okay, but could have been nicer and more welcoming. The best thing and big surprice of the hotel was very good breakfast buffet, with lot of selection in warm and cold dishes. It was better than in many quality hotels that I have been, so allthough the room was not what I would expect from a hotel, the breakfast was much more what I expected.

Reviewed By philoxenaWe booked Niemilomat as a one-night stopover on a journey from Kuhmo to Helsinki; I.think that if we do another Finnish holiday I’d make it our base. We stayed in the main house—an attractive old building with a lot of nooks and terraces to relax on—but there are some lovely cottages as well. The establishment is right on a lake, and one can do the classic jump from the sauna into the water. There are also boats, and a major canoeing route starts at the pier. Wild strawberries and bilberries can be picked in the local woodland, and the location is ideal for exploring the Lakeland.

Amazing value for money!
Reviewed By McjassuWe stayed in a spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 toilets. The apartment had all necessary equipment and even coffee, tea, eggs, bacon, yogurt in the fridge for making breakfast. Very good and friendly communication from the owners and dogs were very welcome for no extra cost. Perfect when travelling with dogs, so you might even want to detour to stay here if travelling to bigger cities. I would highly recommend this accommodation for anyone who’s looking for value for money and prefers space and privacy over ”fancy hotel room”.

The historically significant and idyllic Varkauden klubi (The Varkaus clubhouse) is located right in the city center of Varkaus. It was relocated there in 1876 from the town of Terijoki which is now part of the Russian Federation. During its history, the building has served as a residence, hotel, restaurant and a clubhouse. Nowadays, in the 1000 m² facilities, it is possible to arrange different kinds of events and celebrations as well as to stay overnight in one of the eleven individual rooms. The Varkaus clubhouse is situated in the city of Varkaus in walking distance from the city center and shops. Close by you can also find many restaurants and coffee shops.

Worst place..
Reviewed By Mper1234I have ever stayed at. Would not recommend this for anyone who would want a quiet, nice, clean place for the night. The price was very high for what we actually got, which was a room with bunk beds and the door (yes, door not a wall) between the two rooms was as thin as a sheet (we heard their dog walking) so the family with children in the next room, who were screaming, singing, talking loudly, were heard very well. They didn't stop until 23:30 and started again 7 in the morning. Very short sleep for us. Breakfast buffet wasn't anything to give more stars either. Even 1 star is too much for this price, compared to the place we stayed the night before, where we had a full house on the lake for half the price of this place.
