Reviewed By JandHQGreat hotel if you want a calm, relaxing break. The hotel is clean, tidy and well equipped. The pool area is very spacious with never a problem getting access to a sunbed. The two pools are really nice and the whole area is always clean and well maintained. Breakfast is good. At lunchtime the pool bar offers a good snack menu and in the evenings the main restaurant provides a good and varied menu. All of the staff are helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again

Arrived late and we where greeted by a polite young male on reception who gave us all the information we needed and showed us to our room. The room was a clean, large and equipped with everything that we needed. The hotel is beautiful. Grounds well kept, 2 pools cleaned everyday and a beautiful view of luz. We never stayed in the hotel much as we wanted to explore but we ate breakfast there the first morning which was lovely and good value for money and had a few drinks in the bar in the evenings (the cocktails where delicious) and again great value for money.. The bar man was very polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend this for a peaceful relaxing holiday. Only a 5 minute walk from a spar shop for any bits and bobs and a 10 minute walk from the beach where the beautiful beach is and plents of restaurants and shops..Going to book again for September

Reviewed By Norman PVery disappointed at what probably was once a charming and well.maintained ‘estate’ but which currently is totally dishevelled and very shabby- the sadness is that it could be a genuinely 4-5 star complex but now just manages a 2 star rating. With a properly staffed and motivated management it should be worth revisiting …at present it most certainly is not !

The hotel bar and breakfast was outstanding on the minus the In room safe was broken and there was no kettle or coffee mugs. Great location and yes we would recommend staying here

Gorgeous grounds, nice pool

We got an economy room and still have a beautiful bathroom, Air Conditioning and a veranda with a view of the gardens and pool. I wish we had planned to stay more than one night; ideal for touring Sagres and Lagos ... and other west Algarve locations by car.

But must explain that we stayed in a privated villa and not the hotel, so this review is really on that villa. Villa was just a few meters from hotel reception, which is were the resprt bar is. Stopped for a drink when we were walking around and was greeted by a very nice staff member ( he was a man in his 60s), made us feel very welcome. Had a walk around the resort and it looked ok ( didnt see into the hotel or hotel blocks). Hotel pool looked ok and surrounding grounds looked clean and ok, seen some comments about waste lands and all that, yes a few o f this, but these are villa sites for sale, could they be clean up and kept a certain level ( yes) but its the same all over these areas so no big deal to us. Our villa had 3 bed rooms ( 2 doubled and one twin) with 3 bathrooms ( 2 ensuites, one just across from room), private pool and roof top terrance. Villa had everything needed, included sky sports and movies. Walk to resort from Praia da Luz is about 30mins, but not that bad, can go over the cliffs, but really tge same time, taxis are between 6.50/ 8.00€ for 4, so again not bad. No noise and lovely wind to keep you cool.

I’ll never return.. many many much better options in Praia da Luz Slow and bad initial service followed by bad everything else..

Unhelpful staff and poor service
Reviewed By joeysR9192DYI booked an apartment not direct with Estrela da Luz but on the complex. I arrived with all my luggage for an eleven day stay, given a map of the property which was right at the back of the complex, luckily I had arranged private transfer from the airport who had kindly waited as no assistance was forth coming with getting to the apartment (be warned some of this complex is a fair walk) On booking I had stated my grandsons (who are Portuguese) would be staying, nothing in response so assumed all would be well, I had booked an apartment which would sleep 4 with this in mind. Also on arrival I was given a two page document which when I read later advised that the indoor pool had to be booked in blocks of 1 hour due to COVID restrictions, not the spontaneous swimming I had planned but fully understood the policy and certainly happy to comply. I went and booked the swim one morning and advised I would be bringing one of my Grandson's, all accepted. When I arrived later the receptionist refused to allow my Grandson in as I was the only person registered in the apartment (this was the same person I had booked with earlier and not been a problem) To say we were a little upset at this is a slight understatement as I had only booked with Estrela for the indoor pool facility. I wrote to my apartment owner who apologised and asked for the person who had refused the entry ( I didn't take a name but as this was the only person behind reception I am sure the management wouldn't have had to much of an issues checking this) but no further contact was made with me either by the owner or Estrela. I also had safety issues with the apartment regarding doors not being able to lock (the owner advised a maintenance person from Estrela would take a look at this but no one came whilst I was there) and lack of information regarding how things worked, cleanliness of the apartment and the balcony on my arrival but this is something I will take up with the apartment owner. This is unfortunately not the first time I have been disappointed with Estrela da Luz, another expensive mistake for me. Praia da Luz as a place is magical, friendly locals with fabulous restaurants and cafe's and somewhere I have stayed twice yearly for many years

Excellent Customer Service
Reviewed By kieranmadineWe had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at the Ocean Club in Luz. The Garden Complex is now under new management led by John and Donna. The food and service were excellent and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Today as we lounged around the pool Donna offered us complimentary organic peaches which were grown in her Mother’s garden. What a lovely gesture.
