10 Hostels hotel in Lapland: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 29, 2023 Flossie Demartino

The northern most part of Finland, Lapland, is the magical arctic region full of contrasts. In fact, contrasts are a key factor in the allure of Lapland where 24-hour sunlight in the summer replaces the dark winter days filled with Northern Lights. Every season in Finnish Lapland is uniquely different from each other. The inhabitants of the region say that Lapland actually has 8 seasons instead of 4. In the wintertime, Lapland is as close as reality gets to those who dream of a winter wonderland. Spring brings along light that follows the long season of ‘kaamos’ (arctic night in Finnish). During the spring time, the snow covered hills and fells offer exciting experiences for all winter outdoors enthusiasts from skiiers to snowshoe walkers. Summer in Lapland is a season like no other – there are endless white nights and peaceful arctic nature as far as the eye can see. Summer’s glow is followed by the majestic season of fall when Lapland gets its truly iconic ‘ruska’ colors. This is the best season to go for a hike in one of Lapland’s many national parks. It is meditation and mindfullness all wrapped in one in one of the world’s most unique and breath-taking sceneries. And don’t forget the best and purest air and water this planet has to offer. After you have recharged in nature, Lapland also offers other interesting places to visit. Meet Santa Claus in Rovaniemi, try one (or two!) of Lapland’s great restaurants, visit a reindeer or a husky farm, venture out to a quirky festival or go look for gold. Finnish Lapland is all this and more.

We stayed on this campplace for 3 nights on an electric camper place. Because we stayed here in between 2 seasons, we were the only guests, so wonderfull. We stayed on a lot of campplaces all over the world, this camping is our favourite one. Complete silence, the only things you hear are the singing birds and the floating river. The owners are very friendly and hard working people, its a pleasure to talk with them about the wilderness of Finland and their experiences in the wild woods, hunting and fishing during their stay. After 3 nights we left this wonderfull campsite, with a little sadness to go on.

Very low quality

Reviewed By Meylock1

You have to put in a request to have your room cleaned. Bring your own shampoo. You get 1 towel. Internet sucks. Checkin is at 15:00 and the hotel is over 600 yards away from the reception. Checkout is at 11:00. Breakfast not included. The reception reps look tired and overworked. You don’t get much for what you pay for. Will I recommend it? Hell no.

Clean and well equipped

Reviewed By B T

The location is very good as it is in Rovaniemi city centre, also close to the bus station (5 min walk) and train station (10-15 min walk). It is a small hostel but has good facilities including a good kitchen and lounge area. Layout is a little odd- it looks like it used to be a shop that has been converted into a hostel. The staff are really friendly and very helpful- try to let them know your arrival time so they can then be there to check you in (there is no reception or 24/7 front desk). It is very clean and well maintained. There is free tea and coffee and equipment for guests to use. There are only two down points-there is nowhere to store your luggage (no lockers) and the partition wall between the bedrooms and the lounge area doesn't go all the way to the top of the building so you can hear any noise from people talking/the TV in the lounge.

Huskies cuidados con mucho amor ?

Reviewed By R1324LUevaa

Convenient stay at rovaniemi

Reviewed By Suchnir

The accommodation was very conveniently located close to bus stops. The rooms were clean, heated and well equipped. The kitchen and common lounge were nice as well. Probably too many guests for too few shower/toilet facilities. And it would have helped if the clearer check in procedure and a contact to call if helps was required. We met a guest in distress as he was locked out of his room after using the shower as the room autolocks. He was stuck outside, desperately trying to reach the contact provided but didn't have a response for a good hour. This made us quite wary and set our first impression.

Wonderful accommodation in a calm place outside Pyhätunturi

Reviewed By Davvebiegga

Lomakeskus Luppo offers nice rooms in a cozy atmosphere 5-6 km from the center of the ski town Pyhätunturi. I spent some nights there in early March. If you arrive by bus they pick you up in the center, but there are also a few buses that run on the nearby road. Sauna available. Nice library upstairs, restaurant and breakfast room downstairs. Very friendly staff! I had a big room (with own bathroom) for myself, but they also have space for groups.
