Very local very delicious. Fresh seafoods with traditional Tainan cooking ways. Typical outdoor seating, and had fun with Heineken beers. Try everything, literally! Their shell seafoods, fishes, fried noodles, bamboo roots, sausages, shrimps... Everything is great.

Calling all fish lovers. If you are afraid of fishy smell of soup etc, do not worry as this is is almost free from it. Even for the famed fish skin soup. There is porridge, rice, side dishes to complement the meal and relatively inexpensive. Do note the opening hours is till 2 odd in the noon and open very early.

Within a modern, stylish setting, THE MEZZ Steak and Lobster offers a mouthwatering grill menu featuring a sensational selection of fine steaks and fresh, whole Boston lobster.
The restaurant is in a prime hotel in Tainan. I was expecting a superior dining experience because it was in the Shangri-La hotel. The staff were a little to casual (jeans)for the prices they were charging for dinner. The dinner menu and wine list were lacking in selection or excitement. We ordered Filet Mignon for dinner (medium rare) and they were cooked perfect except they CUT them in half which dried it out quickly! The sauce menu allowed a choice of sauces so I ordered the garlic butter and it was served COLD. I ordered a salad and regrettably a steak house with no blue cheese dressing. For the location and the clientele they desire to engage with the menu needs to be reviewed. The wine list desperately needs to be improved because its BORING. I know you folks at MEZZ can do better. Looking forward to trying it again....

It is worth a visit to this restaurant to sample Tainan cuisine. It is surprisingly pleasant and clean. The service is excellent. The ladies tried their best to speak English with us with great big genuine smile. Highly recommend the steamed crab with sticky rice! Sea ell is also well known local dish in Tainan but I consider it a acquired taste. The dishes are on the sweet side but please do keep an open mind when try out the dishes.

Came here with friends to try their young squid rice noodle. The squid is fresh, sweet and crunchy. The soup base is really another highlight which is clear but sweet as well. Just that it's quite hot and quite difficult to eat in hot summer.

Bump into this famed shop selling shrimp roll. Easy to find as it is on the main street. You can well taste the crunchiness of the shrimp. It is simply good for a quick bite.

The breakfast buffet was ok. There were some long lines for coffee and the selection was good but not great. My tastes for Asian breakfasts are probably quite different than the traditional Tainan breakfast fare. However, the breakfast was definitely better than adequate.

It's a Buddhist temple in the countryside close to good hiking trails. The temple have a small but very well maintained garden with some statues of saints and animals. It's a peacefull place and was not crowded on a weekday. You can stop by if you are in the area but no need to go out of your way to visit.

This is just a great place - beautiful Japanese design, nothing in excess, and just a wonderful cuisine. Flounder is a must try - probably best sushi Iâve ever tried in my life. Maodon sashimi - 16 varieties of sashimi - is amazing. Staff is very nice and helpful (one of the ladies also speaks perfect English which is quite helpful for non-Mandarin speakers). If you want rolls (not hand rolls, btw hand roll with asparagus is great here) please ask staff, itâs a special, not in the menu. The bill they bring you first thing is not for payment, but simply to make sure all you gave ordered was served. In terms of specials they also serve pomelo and banana plum wine - nice scent!

Exceptional experience. Old house with modern taste of Shabu Shabu. The food ingredient is fresh. The pork, beef and seafood is best selected. Especially the atmosphere of dinning brings you to the old days.
