First door I went to, the handicapped entrance, door was jammed and I could not open it. We had to walk back around the building in the rain to get in the bar door. Service is terrible. Seated ourselves, and waited 15 minutes for service before deciding to leave. Only 3 tables, two waitresses and no one was being served. The table closest to us, it took 10 minutes to run a credit card, the guys wife gave up and went to the car. The other table, two of the guys went to the bar to get refills. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Whatever they are doing up at Hidden Valley is working. We ate at the Clocktower during our recent stay there and much much improved from prior stays. What a nice surprise, what a beautiful resort!! - keep up the good work
We stumbled upon Mel's while staying in the area. It's definitely a dive, but it doesn't try to be anything but a dive bar. The bar was pretty packed with locals and had a great band (it was a Sat night). The bartender, Sam, was awesome and made us feel right at home. He also made me a crazy good shot that tasted like apple pie. Ask for it - he adds some drama to the presentation. ;-)Be sure not to drive home, even if you have only a drink or two. We were told the local cops are especially tough there. Enjoy!
What to do and see in Somerset, United States: The Best Places and Tips
We stopped in for a quick beer well trying to figure out where to stay in Somerset. The menu looked interesting with typical bar food. The beer was cold and cheap. The service was fine. Smoking is allowed so the bar was smokey. I can't say I'd rush back to spend any time here but it wasn't exactly a bad place either.

Stopped by here while staying in the area. Wanted a few beers, wasn't too hungry for a big meal. They had hotdog specials while there, had the chile cheese dog and was excellent. Those working were very friendly, asked frequently if everything was OK, if we needed anything. Seemed like a neighborhood bar and was comfortable in visiting.

Even though the menu clearly states that the Ruben sandwich is improperly made with 1,000 Island dressing, I decided to try it anyway. It was just OK.I spoke with the manager, and she has never heard of Russian Dressing.S I G H.Everything else about our meal was correct and tasty, the service was good, and the beer was cold.I'd go back - but not for a wrong Ruben.
