We recently visited the park and Laurel Hill Lake while on vacation. The park is well maintained and has lots of good trails and family areas. The first has a lot of old growth timber and was quite pretty.
The lake area is well maintained. There are places to picnic and there is a small concession stand to buy food at. There are bathrooms right on the lake and they do have available showers. The lake has a fairly large Beach area that is sand and is kept clean. There is a large designated swimming area that is roped off. The water is clear up to about 2-3 feet out which was great for small children. In the morning the mountain on the backside of the lake offers some morning shade. They also offer boat paddle board and kayak rentals. There's is also a small playground area on the the beach.
I would strongly recommend this as a nice place to get away and relax for the day.

The memorial site dedicated to those who lost their lives on United Airlines Flight 93, September 11, 2001.
I'm very impressed with what the National Park Service has done here. A very fitting tribute to the everyday Americans who became heroes. Like many others, I can still recall vividly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard the news that day. It's nearly impossible to walk through the museum without shedding a tear, especially the passenger wall with all their photos. I first came to the site when it was basically a dirt path with the chain link fence memorial wall. To see it now is truly remarkable and inspiring.

Inside the chapel is a collection of stuff as a memorial to Flight 93 AND Benghazi victims. Out back is an obelisk to honor the crew. Bus tour but call ahead for hours.

What a fantastic way to have a night away from home. Biking on the Allegheny Passage Trail , staying at a local Bed & Breakfast and having an Opera House in town with various different performances throughout the year. The Saturday night we were there was a buffet dinner and murder mystery. SOLD OUT! (approx. 100 people). Fun performance , buffet was fine . There was even a wine tasting event before the buffet and show. Think about combining biking/hiking with some evening entertainment . Good times.

Looking for a fun day activity while visiting friends in Pennsylvania, we all decided on a winery excursion. We finished our visit to Fallingwater and chose Glades Pike Winery for our next stop. The staff was very friendly and knew their wines. We sampled five or six wines and purchased the ones we liked. After the tasting, we shared wine and shrimp, charcuterie and a vegetable platter that was available for purchase. You had the option of dining inside or on a deck overlooking the vineyard. It was an enjoyable way to spend a day.

We saw the road signs and decided to stop at the rescue site for a quick visit. This is self-guided and a small area. It was very interesting. Because of the size, it is a place to visit on the way to or from somewhere else.

Nicely done..., beginning with a movie then moving through exhibits, explaining the culture and history of the area and the hard working rural lifestyle of the farmers and how they progressed through time. It was not busy when we were there which was nice going at our own pace. There is also a nice gift shop. Glad we stopped.

Went there for a Sunday walk, as always BEAUTIFUL. Climbed the tower to lookout to some of the most beautiful country. Not a fast pace State park but if you want a nice quite retreat to enjoy Nature's beauty, I highly recommend. NOTE! The tower climb is not for the faint of heart.

There are 3 covered bridges in the immediate area with King"s bridge being the best maintained. If you want to see what it was like to get over a stream before cars, this 12 mile trip is well worth the drive. The Baronville Covered Bridge is about 1 mile from King's bridge and the Humbert Covered Bridge is about 12 miles down stream from King's bridge. The construction principles used and the pride taken in this type of construction should be seen by all people who have grown up with steel and cement construction methods used today.
