I asked the desk clerk at our hotel for a recommendation for good Mexican food and he told us about La Rockita, just a few blocks away from our hotel (for some reason this place has been erroniously reviewed as La Roca on Trip Advisor). The place is rather nondescript and has no table service but there are a few tables in a rather sparsely decorated room if you wish to eat there. Atmosphere is not much but you can't eat scenery can you? But the food was excellent! I had a chicken Torta and my wife had a veggie burrito. Both dishes were well seasoned, very tasty, and large enough to share or save half for another meal. If I had tried to eat all of my torta in one sitting someone would have to roll me out in a wheelbarrow. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and food was very satisfying. I definitely will return the next time I visit Corvallis.

It has been a few years since I visited the restaurant that was previously in this location- Los Tres Reales. El Patron has greatly improved the decor and ambiance. It is a very large restaurant with mostly booths in the main dining room. It was moderately busy on a Monday evening. The service was very good and many employees stopped by our table to make sure we enjoyed the food and to let us know they were glad we chose to eat there. I probably made a poor menu choice - carne asada with black beans and Mexican rice. My daughter’s meal looked awesome - camarones alla crema. Her boyfriend had the green enchiladas. The table salsa is really good and so are the chips. They also serve a good bean dip with the chips. The black beans were too salty for me - I didn’t notice it when I mixed them with the rice - but by themselves the salt was very noticeable. The carne asada came with lightly grilled onions and a nice mix of lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cilantro. You have a choice of white rice or Mexican rice and you can choose refried beans, black beans, or the olla beans, which I think are close to the bean dip served with the chips. You can also sub steamed vegetables or a small salad for the beans and rice for a very small extra charge. It is great to have those options. We had the churros for dessert - very good with strawberry filling and whipped cream for dipping. I would return - but I’ll avoid the black beans and carne asada next time.

I stumbled over this restaurant while visiting the nearby Corvallis Outlet store. I had pretty much given up on Mexican food in Corvallis. I've been to Mexico many times and lived in Sonoma County for years so I know good Mexican food. That day I had a Carnitas soft taco. Wow, the best soft taco I've had in Corvallis. I went back the next night and ordered a Torta to go. Great torta. And best of all, they give you chips and salsa on take out orders. This is the only Mexican restaurant I have found that includes free chips and salsa. And the chips were great!

I really like their Enchiladas Verdes. They're pretty spicy, which seems to be a rare thing to find at the other Mexican restaurants in town. I've been multiple times to the La Rockita on Western and the one on Kings and they're both pretty good. The one on Western seems to be more of a place where people go to get takeout (though I have eaten there as well) and you order at the counter rather than from a server. The Kings one is a sit down restaurant with chips, salsa, and your standard American-Mexican feel.

We had lunch at the Bomb's Away Restaurant on Monroe Street in Corvallis. When we lived in Corvallis 20 years ago, this was one of our favorite places. Well, the food was still as good as years ago. The smoothered chicken burrito and the vegetable quesadilla were very good. All in all 15 dollars including soft drinks is an unbeatable price.Service was ok but not outstandingly friendly.

Seven of us ( included three kids) arrived on a Tuesday night and were seated right away. Our cheerful host took our drink order within minutes and our dinners arrived not long after we ordered. The fajitas arrived sizzling and delicious. The fish tacos were tasty as were all the other meals. The restaurant is reminiscent of one in Cancun, colorful and decorated in Mexican art. The owner is a supporter of the city's local sports teams. There are lots of trophies for soccer, baseball, etc. displayed.

My husband and I wanted Mexican breakfast and the kids wanted basic pancakes & french toast; we were ALL happy here thanks to a diverse menu. The Huevos Rancheros was super flavorful and well prepared, and the fresh-squeezed juices were a treat. Everyone loved their breakfast and the service was quick and very friendly. We will definitely come again!

The tacos where so good. Some where way too spicy for my sensitive palate, but all where enjoyed. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in town.

This quirky, offbeat vegetarian restaurant in college-town Corvallis offers food that even a carnivore can love. At least, my meat-eating friends always come away happy and wanting to return with me to try additional dishes. The “gonzo cuisine” includes creative takes on various international fare, including an entire menu section of “Nearly Mexican” meals. My favorite dish is based on an Indonesian favorite, but here it’s called “Oh My Gado-Gado.” The menu calls it “colorful veggies and tamari tofu cooked in our homemade peanut sauce over brown rice, topped with cabbage-carrot-lime slaw and roasted peanuts.” I call it heavenly. The restaurant is open from breakfast through dinner, with outdoor garden patio seating in pleasant weather, and indoor tables year-round.
