Japanese curry was very good. I ordered tonkatsu 'fillets' and I should have ordered the tonkatsu loin. The fillet came in the form of 'balls' and seemed to be dark meat. Not what I am used to when ordering tonkatsu. However, it was very good. I was perplexed that there wasn't an option for what I call 'katsu curry'. It seems like a common option at curry shops to have tonkatsu fillet sliced and place together with curry on a plate but not here. A minor grievance for sure but nevertheless felt odd. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would certainly return.

I've been to Kopan Ramen in Fullerton. Kopan Ramen in Rowland Heights however, didn't meet our expectations, with Fullerton setting the bar higher. The broth was cold, flavorless, and the menu items were subpar. Everything looked good, just that the flavor outcome was not so great and a bit disappointing.

I have not been to this place in quite a while, since the owner threw us out for requesting a second table for our party. There were 12 of us and he wanted to seat us in a table meant for 6-8. That's another story though, LOL! All in all, this place is still a good deal. There is no way you can mess up your food or soup because the base is pretty good and theMeats are pretty much do it yourself. It's still an unbeatable and cost effective option compared to a traditional Japanese shabu place. Realistically, this place will cost about half of what a "Real" Japanese Shabu-Shabu place would. At least you have this place as an option. :-)

My husband and I love Uniboil, especially the location in SGV. This is the first time that we tried this location (incentivized by a Groupon deal); the food was excellent as always, but the service at this specific location was terrible. The two waitresses did not get along between themselves, and they took their issues on their customers =( Anyways, food first - highly recommend the tomato soup base with either beef or lamb and the Korean military pot with extra noodle (instant noodle). The flavor from either soup was great, and the portion is big! I had to really try to finish the whole pot of delicious food. Recommend to add fish and spam on the side. A meal of four with extra noodles, fish, and spam plus three orders of drinks came to be around $80. We used a Groupon deal ($14 for $20 worth of food), so the meal came to be ($80 - $20) + $14 = $74 without tips. Not cheap but quite worth it. Service was a bit upsetting when we visited on a Friday night. It was not busy; many tables were empty. We walked in and sat down; neither of the two waitresses brought us the menu but worked on their own stuff - refilling the sauce, cleaning another table, moving tables around, staring at the ceiling etc. For 10 minutes no one came to bring us the menu or take drink order. It was a bit odd, but we didnt say anything (because we didnt want our food to be spit on). Finally one waitress informed the other to bring us the menu. We then placed our order, and the wait started. It took them awhile to bring the food out. Again we didnt complain, even though the table next to us started complaining, we kept quiet. Finally the food came. While we were eating, the two waitresses got into some sort of argument, over a cellphone (if I was not mistaken). It was quite loud, and everyone in the restaurant could hear. I didnt find it professional. The owner should address it to the two waitresses that it may be better to leave personal conflicts off work. Anyways food was enjoyable, but the service was terrible. My family and I would not return but go back to the other location in SGV.

Taste is typical for Shabu Shabu. Where this place shines is the selection of sauces you can create to enhance your meal at the "sauce bar." Prices are competitive compared to other Shabu restaurants in the area. Note that finding parking on Friday and Saturday nights can feel like being at the mall the night before Christmas. This alone can turn me off from going here.

Our party arrived after 7:00pm on a cold rainy Saturday evening. We signed in and was informed it would be a 1/2 an hour wait but realistically an hour. We started to notice that parties arriving later than us were being seated. My relatives were hungry and advised the matradee that we will be willing to split our party into two tables to be seated sooner. Within five minutes, we were seated as a party of 4 and 2.The waitress promptly took our order and it seemed like within minutes her assistant brought each of us our pots of broth. I chose the miso broth, lamb T Rex with veggies and sesame sauce for dipping. For an additional amount of money ramen can be added but regular price included an egg, napa cabbage, tofu, generous amount of sliced lamb and glass noodles. My broth was flavorful and the combination of everything combined was satisfying and filling. The Service was decent, not overbearing. The servers checked in several times and were readily available for assistance. Overall our group was satisfied, but I personally favor my usual hot pot spot.

Don't complain to the chef if your meat's not cooked the way you want it. You ARE the chef. Choices of broths or plain water to which you add veggies and sauces. Then you parboil your meat or seafood of choice.Excellent sauces and beautiful meats.Recommend the Kobe bacon. Looks fatty,j but the fat's melted off. Numerous other very nice cuts available. Interesting choices of drinks we'd never heard of and imported beers.sit at the counter or a table, but the counter has individual induction tables for your broth of choice. Table makes you share the broth.Would certainly return.

I should begin by saying that all personnel were courteous and friendly. I don't think the price is worth the food and the "show" performed by the cook. The food and serving size were average. The food comes in stages as it is cooked in front of customer. If you don't mind eating as food is placed on your plate then you will do ok. If you don't mind eating your food lukewarm then can wait for the dish to be completely served. I will give this restaurant a "fine dining" score because it is about $60 per person and that is with no alcoholic drinks and no dessert. It is family and wheelchair friendly. I must add that it is located at the very entrance of Sam's Club and parking near the restaurant may be difficult.
