Evanston (/ˈɛvənˌstən/) is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, 12 miles (19 km) north of downtown Chicago, bordered by Chicago to the south, Skokie to the west, and Wilmette to the north. It had a population of 74,486 as of 2010. It is one of the North Shore communities that adjoin Lake Michigan and is the home of Northwestern University. The boundaries of the city of Evanston are coterminous with those of the former Evanston Township, which was dissolved in 2014 by voters with its functions being absorbed by the city of Evanston.

We tried two different pizza and both were very good! They used fresh mozzarella which is so good. Italian sausage was spicy. Also meatballs were season well. The chicken parmigiana was huge! Big enough for two! And it was excellent. It was reasonably priced food. Great variety of things on the menu! But no just plain spaghetti and meatballs dish! Desserts were very good too. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Took an old friend on a weeknight. Place was packed. He ordered a salad and spicy shrimp pasta. I ordered a chicken marsala. Both were great. My chicken was perfectly cooked with a tasty sauce on a bed of rotini pasta. I wish I had brought a bottle of my own wine. I didn't know that had a modest corkage fee for those that BYO. Now a go- to spot for simple- good north Evanston Italian.

Thereâs nothing precocious or over the top here. Lasagna was perfectly blended. A side of meatballs was similarly simple and beautifully blended. The house red wine was nice. Dessert was coffee gelato. Loved it. Dress is casual and ambience is nicely done. Music is tastefully Italian. Dinner for two with wine and dessert was $60. Weâll be back.

This is a small storefront restaurant with a good-sized menu and daily specials. The service is quite good and attentive, but the food is rather average. It has many seafood dishes, and you can select a particular pasta, including whole wheat, a plus, and various sauces. The pasta comes with either soup (just ok) or salad (very good). The whole wheat angel hair pasta I ordered was thick like a regular spaghetti and fell apart in small pieces or stuck together in clumps. The marinara sauce was not very tasty. My friends had various seafood dishes that they said were just so-so. One friend had what he said was very good chocolate cake for dessert.

I love taking advantage of the online deal specials.You get a lot of pizza for your money! You can also get an extra 15% if you order online. My personal favorite is the 3 x $6 triple deal, which is 3 medium pizzas with one topping for $6 each. This is the only place where spinach pizza is my favorite!

This restaurant is a gem. The decor fits the name, which translates to "machine" or "car." There are a couple antique motorcycles and many antique placards from Italian service stations. I ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese with a side Caesar salad. The salad was delicious and the homemade pasta was delightful. The meat gravy was just right: thick with a golden brown patina, not the rubor of pseuto-Italian tomatoey pasta sauces. Portion sizes are sane. Service is fast and friendly. This will definitely be a regular spot!

We waited an extra 15 minutes past our order time and the pizza was burnt on the outside and a little doughy on the inside. It is a Chicago deep dish classic with sauce on the top and great cheese, but the pizza is simply average. It was $28 for a large deep dish pizza that was average at best. Service was friendly and apologetic though.

We were a group of twelve. Service was very efficient, not rushed, and friendly. The wine list is excellent, and they actually can make The Last Word cocktail, which was very good and enjoyable. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to order half portions of appetizers and entrées. We all enjoyed our dinner and our time there.

I enjoy the food and service a lot at Compagnola, and it is the kind of place that could be romantic and intimate, because it is small. But, it is difficult to have a conversation with the other people at the table, because the sound just bounces off the walls. There were four of us. I especially liked the honesty of the server, guiding me to the most delicious halibut I have ever had. The preparation was exquisite, served with sautéed mushrooms and asparagus in a balsamic reduction. All special dietary restrictions were treated seriously, so everyone was happy with their orders if: salmon, lamb chops, and shells with sausage, fresh garlic, mushrooms and tomato. The bread was so fresh that one could make bread balls out of the slice, and still have a delicious, crispy crust.
