Stopped by for the first time on 8/13/19 ordering two entrees and potato cake which were good, the knockwurst were good, our waitress Hannah was awesome. A bit overpriced though.

This place was recommended to me by a friend so I had to stop in and check it out. It is located in a great spot next to the river but with that being said it does get incredibly busy. I was seated pretty quickly and had a great place to eat and people watch. My one negative is that it did quite a bit of time for my server to finally come up. After that I ordered the tavern burger but substituted it for chicken instead and it came with a side of chips. The chicken was cooked perfectly however the chips came in a bag which was disappointing as I was expecting house made chips. Other than, great place for a meal and I would certainly go back despite the fact the service took a bit longer than usual.

We had to travel thru Helen and decided to eat here. It had been over 20 years since we last ate there. The wif had a pork schnitzel and I had the pork wiener schnitzel. Both were so salty we could barely eat them. Military signs, banners and such were displayed throughout. I asked the waiter if they offered a military discount and he stated "yes, 10% off", then shook my hand and thanked me for my service. I had already seen our bill, which was $44.95, tax included. Might I add we only drank water. When he returned with the final check, I noted the amount was still $44.95. I paid that amount, plus a $5 tip and we departed. Doubt if we will return. Service overall wasn't that great.Sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience. We do offer a military discount and our schnitzel is one of our most popular menu items. Thanks for the feedback.

We were walking around, fount this place during Octoberfest to be charming and warm and personable! We enjoyed ourselves here and took a break and had some relaxing moments and a drink! Prices were more than fair and live music was about to start....Highly Recommend and enjoyed this part of our day!

We came to Helen for the weekend and it was the beginning of Octoberfest! This place was casual and great! We had a Bavarian Pretzel and beer cheese; it was a phenomenal appetizer to say the least.... I had the Reuben which was an amazing sandwich! It was grilled and smothered in cheese...also served with chips and a kosher pickle. My wife had the Roast Beef on a Kaiser Roll....served with chips and a kosher pickle, the warm air sitting outside and the river running beside our table was so relaxing and perfect to start our weekend.... this place was great recommend if in Helen Ga or near by!

The food is authentic German food and fairly good but not great. The meat was a little dry. But the red cabbage was excellent. The spatzle was good. The schnitzel was good. I recommend the place. I recommend the place. Go for the schnitzel or the sandwiches.

German food was good but a little disappointed on the training of our waitress.Advertise gluten free menu items, but our waitress was not sure what and want not this family member could eat.German sausages were great, sauerkraut, red cabbage and German potatoe salad all good. One member was disappointed on her pork because of fat and portion size, but the other family members good and nice portion.German beer and they have several on the menu both draft and bottled.We are here for the Octoberfest experience and don't know german beers from any other foreign beers. Beer menu no help, didn't tell light from dark and of course German names, again waitresse not much help.

The food was great, with the exception of the spaetzle, which was bland, cold mush. The service was pretty good, but the atmosphere was just boring. I expected a German restaurant visited during Helen's Oktoberfest to be a bit lively, but there wasn't even music playing.

We arrived in Helen late on a Wednesday. Cowboys was close to our condo, and at that time, we didnât have many choices. We had the Blue Bison burger, fries, Gouda grits, and portobello fritters. Everything was fantastic!!! We were the last people in the restaurant, but never felt rushed. Service was great! I highly recommend!

We stopped here on our first night in Helen as part of a bus tour. The restaurant dining room is not large and our group had the whole room. The food was all German specialties and the portions were large. Everyone at my table of 4 adults could not finish the meal! The server, Haley, was knowledgeable about German beers and very good at describing the meals and desserts. We opted for a spice cake that was outstanding. All in all, we left satisfied and walked around Helen to digest our meals.
