We went there twice in our three days stay in Quebec. All the food we tried were delicious. We like the steak, seafood, scallops and wine we tried. Staff were helpful in recommending their signature dishes and local wine. Prices were reasonable as well. We enjoyed very much our time there. Reservation is highly recommended.

Earlier this week, myself along with family and friends had dinner at Les Sales Gosses. It was our first time at this restaurant (for some of us) and we all enjoyed it!General Atmosphere: The general atmosphere is quite good. Although the restaurant is somewhat noisy, we had no problem hearing each other talk. The service is quite good with waiters and waitresses that know their menu and that are quite polite and nice. One suggestion though: reserve your table in advance especially if you are coming to eat with 4 or more people, because even though the restaurant doesn't have much trouble accomodating a group of people (we were 7), the space is not very big and tables can book pretty quickly. Food & Pricing:As a starter, I had cod that was covered with panko breading in a pesto sauce. Although it was pretty good, I thought the panko breading and pesto sauce may have been a bit too much as it took off most of the cod's flavor. As my main dish, I had a piece of beef that was extremely good! A part of it was even covered in sour creme (it looked to me like cheese at first). It was accompanied by a medium sized portion of fries that were good but a bit too salty for me.For dessert, I had a creme Brulee, which was raspberry and strawberry flavoured. It was rather refreshing considering this time of year! The prices were quite high but considering everything we got, it was well worth it!To finish off, I definetly recommend this restaurant to people who like an original culinary experience!

Local food, local crowd. Amazing food, nice wines, out of beaten track.

We wanted to try something "local" and found La Gueule de Bois. I know we succeeded because it was very obvious that all the other many patrons were known, at least seemingly so, by the owners. Not quite fine dining, but more than just a bistro, La Gueule de Bois offers a small menu of options along with a decent wine list. I found their sweetbeard and mushroom gnocchi among the best I have ever had, and their creme brulee was equally delicious. These two dishes were indeed worthy of five stars. However, my Pork Shank was disappointing compared to the other two dishes, seemingly having been pre-cooked and then reheated for serving. Perhaps they were rushed, so I will give it a pass and not deduct a point. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place in Quebec. Prices are very reasonable. Service is excellent. Ambience is local. Street parking is hit-and-miss, but there is a large private lot right across the street for $5 Cdn.

Decided to stop in without a reservation. The host got us a great table. So far so good. Things turned down from there. Took forever for the waiter to acknowledge our presence. Not the end of the world. He was busy and the place seemed mostly crowded. The bad part happened when it took 1 hour 20 minutes (!) for entrees to show up after ordering. The place had thinned out a bit so the delay was hard to understand. They blamed on it a "big party" downstairs. I'm guessing someone screwed up. The food itself was OK, not great. I eventually had to head to the host station to pay the bill myself since the waiter had gone MIA. I think this place means well, but their execution was terrible. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this place deserved it. Wildly overrated on Tripadvisor with the other options available in QC. You're better off taking your dining someplace else.Bonjour,I will not argue with you about what you write about us. Some people like you don't understand that sometime things can get out of control, that people can make mistakes or forget about thing. we are beeing human and trying our best. you came without a reservation, we squeeze you in but the what you cannot see is that this night our three floor were full. Usually you are using only two but this night there was a special party on the third floor. Maybe our mistake was to try to accommodate you. Our job is not so easy, Because this summer your had to refuse people in because we were too busy, but they saw a few table available and did write a bad review because we refused to accomodate them. at the door, you people make our decision hard to make.hope you did enjoy your stay in québec.Stéphane Roth, owner.

I will definitely go back. The only negative it is from the outside, you have the feeling that the restaurant is closed....the amount of snow on the restaurant summer terrasse give you a not so good impression. The restaurant was busy last night with a Pharma company dinner presentation but they had a table in a quiet section.... Kudo to our waiter...great service and presence

We loved this restaurant, from the super friendly and helpful servers and host, to the varied and interesting food options that were being served. We had a member of our party allergic to shellfish and poulty, and another who is vegan, and the restaurant was very solicitous helping us get food that met our needs. The onion and pea soup was a particular favorite, as as the salmon, the pork flank, and the shepherd’s pie. This is a second visit for some of us, and we highly recommend it for its combination of traditional and very modern, healthy food. Thank you so much! The fact that you simply took the time to write a review for us is much appreciated. We are always ready to go the extra mile in order to accomodate each and everyone of our customers so that they can enjoy their experience as much as everyone else. We would do so for your friends for all of your visits, so whenever you are in the area again, do not hesitate to come visit us!
