We called in our order for two cups of soup, a half sandwich, and a Cobb salad. My companion asked me to request a roll with her salad. When I got there to pick up our order, my request for a roll was flat out refused. I was not even given the option of paying. When I got the bag home, my companion noted that the half sandwich and one cup of soup were completely missing. She got on the phone and had to explain herself three times what the problem was. It turned out that we had been given both order slips and thus the deli had no record of what had been ordered. The third round elicited an apology from the proprietress and the rest of the order when I drove back to retrieve it. The chili soup was spicy. The Cobb salad was substantial. The half roast beef sandwich was good, but ordinary. We will try some other deli the next time we are in Kennebunk.Let me extend our sincerest apologies once again for the error with your order. We have had staff turn over and we are in the process of training new counter help. Unfortunately, your order was a teachable moment for us. We do try our best to get everything right each and every time in this fast-paced business, but like you unfortunately experienced, errors do happen. Especially when you're new to the job and it's only your 4th or 5th day. Yes, I did ask you to repeat yourself as I was trying to understand what had happened. Our manager who was on the sandwich line had indicated the order had been made, so we were also looking at the take-out orders to see if the balance of our order had been left behind. We did not have an issue remaking your order once we knew what was missing. Unfortunately, rolls don't automatically come with our salads, but If I knew you had requested a roll for the salad it too would have been included. Again, our sincerest apologies for our errors and your unfortunate experience.

Had a light lunch, a bowl of the day's special butternut squash apple bisque and a small chicken pot pie. The pie tasted wonderful. The soup was good but wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. The slice of buttercream lemon pound cake was great. They had a wonderful selection and display of fresh salads, sandwiches, entrees, and baked goods. Prices were very reasonable, considering it's in a high-tourist location. They also have jars and cans of gourmet food items, cheeses, homemade dips, wine, gifts -- loads to choose from! The decor is nautical and classy, and the small eating space is inviting. The only downside is that there's no restroom, which surprised me because there's an eating space and I thought a restroom was required by law. You have to go across the street to the grocery store, which is awkward, inconvenient, and potentially disastrous.
I get to Maine only once a year and typically pick up my sandwiches at Jackson's Corner store in Lyman. Well I believe the business was sold in the last year and the new sandwich maker seems to have gone their own way. The sandwiches are not what they were last year or all the previous years I've gone there. So we are at the end of our glorious 2 weeks of vacation in our lakeside camp and we are preparing to close up the camp at the end of our yearly sojourn, when dinner came up. We needed to eat out or pick something up and we headed to Seafood Center. Well its closed on Tuesday and we were riding by J Brothers. Decided to try them out for an Italian sandwich. I ordered 2 large Italian cold-cut sandwiches. Loaded with veggies, oil and a little mayo. Loaded veggies includes green pepper, onions, tomatoes, some great dill pickle slices and black olive slices. Good amount of cold cut variety and cheese and a large is $8+, but they are very good. Big enough for two meals. We ate half a sandwich for dinner and the second for lunch the following day before heading to the airport. We will be back next year for sure to our new favorite sandwich place in Maine!
