Shan State borders China to the north, Laos to the east, and Thailand to the south, and five administrative divisions of Burma in the west. Largest of the 14 administrative divisions by land area, Shan State covers 155,800 km², almost a quarter of the total area of Burma. The state gets its name from the Shan people, one of several ethnic groups that inhabit the area. Shan State is largely rural, with only three cities of significant size: Lashio, Kengtung, and the capital, Taunggyi. Taunggyi is 150.7 km north east of the nation's capital Naypyitaw.

Coffee House by Pleasant Garden just opened early this year during my visit in 2018. It's located within a leisure bicycle ride or taxi to the hills of Inle Lake, near the Red Mountain Winery. It's an extremely peaceful, relaxing Cafe with indoor seating (with a Library!), outdoor garden seating as well as an upstairs deck patio seating to soak in the gorgeous view of Shan State. The owner M Minn Thu is super friendly and a wealth of knowledge about his town and passionate about Myanmar. Ask him anything to learn more during your Travels!Come enjoy some coffee, local Burmese appetizers/entrees, freshly squeezed juices and desserts any time of the day (they also serve wine now!). Cozy up to a good book or do some Yoga on the garden. Take a nap. Play some music with friends while enjoying the beautiful sunset. I'd highly recommend this as a relaxation stop in Inle Lake, in this small quaint garden village I love so much.

Nice place with excellent coffee (local coffee beans). We ate three salads and enjoyed them very much. We were alone on the roof, so we had to call the waitress from the floor downstairs. A beautiful place to sit in the sunsetSorry for a late reply. Five minute walk from our hotel, and so glad we found this. Very friendly staff, decent English language skills, extensive menu of a range of western and Asian foods. Very good drinks (smoothies, shakes, etc). The cakes were rather strange tasting, but everything else we ate was a delight (ate here 4 times). If hot, worth paying a modest premium to sit in their aircon room. The combination of comfortable seating, very good food and super-friendly staff makes this a winner.

We visited this place three times during our four day stay in Nyaung Shwe: Once for dinner and twice for cake and coffee. Needless to say we really liked the place.The avocado salad is great and the burger is better than most places we've tried.The packaged bread they sell on the ground floor is fresh and delicious. We bought some bread and two Pain au Chocolat to bring on the night bus to Yangon.

A beautifull small hidden place owned by a Vietnamees lady. Coffee and pizza tasted great, they also deliver (we stayed at hillock villa and were very tired so we asked and they deliverd fast a hot pizza. The lady speaks very good English and knows how to make you feel comfortable. Sheâs also able to explain in a passionate way whatâs going on in her country and whatâs need to be done. She has a very nice staff and motivates them to study and get educated. Great place and lady, a must do according to me. Next to her little restaurant sheâs building a small hotel for max 10 rooms, ready around 1/1/2020Thank you very much for your review, we glad that you are happy with our service and food. We were keen to visit this restaurant after the great reviews and the support that the owner provides to local women.The homemade drinks were lovely and I can highly recommend the excellent lemongrass chicken noodle soup. My husband enjoyed his pumpkin curry and my children liked the chicken and vege curry. Unfortunately the service was very slow, but donât let this put you off (just come a bit earlier, before you are starving...). The building is very cute and small. Our waitress (I think she may have been the owner) was really lovely and spoke good English. There was a small selection of items for sale (including some bamboo straws and wooden spoons)We really enjoyed our visit to Paw Paw and recommend it to others.

i was fortunate enough to enjoy a beautiful meal at this community minded cafe, whilst part of a tour group. One of our group had previously met Jim the founder & whilst he wasnât present at our visit we had the privilege of meeting three of his family members. Their passion & commitment to providing training & support to the community was heartwarming & the quality of the food we were served was superb. As well as a bakery, & yoga studio they assist trainees in learning new skills to enable them to secure future employment.Special thanks to Blossom, her sister & brother for making us feel so welcome.Highly recommended.Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and comments!
