we had the roast of the day namely pork. It was good and the price was reasonable. We had red wine to accompany same (a bottle shared by 3 of us) and it was of good quality. Compared to other places of same category the price of meals were reasonable for a good meal.

Arrived late in Hobart and headed here after looking at some good reviews. This place didn’t dissapoint. Staff were friendly and food was yum. Fries with chilli (the beef kind), mole beef taco, Mac and cheese sticks and the chicken wings were all winners

On our recent trip to Hobart we visited Botanica twice. Great wines...the house pinot gris and house pinot noir (Icon) were fab. Small plates shared included calamri, fat chips and aioli, popcorn chicken with chilli...all fresh, perfectly cooked and great flavours. We were there on a busy Friday night..table outside..lots happening, a great spot to people watch and enjoy a drink or two. Prices reasonable ...this one is a must in Salamanca!

The food was really bad. The food was overpriced - you are paying upscale restaurant prices for pub food. The bartender was nice but some woman or manager was just rude and didn’t seem to have service industry background. Not friendly. Very busy on wed trivia nights. The most brightly lit blues bar I’ve ever seen. Seems to get good reviews but I don’t understand why - maybe because it has no competition and is trying to be everything at once? The music is good. I recommend don’t go - but if you do go for the music/trivia night but not for the food and not for the service . Awful

Monday night in Hobart - wasn't sure we would find anything open. Fortunately Cooleys Hotel was and its restaurant was a real surprise. Excellent decor, sophisticated and under stated; friendly and efficient staff. Drinks arrived promptly as did the menus. Impressive and varied. Everybody was happy with their meal. Well done to all concerned. My main issue was not with the hotel but with the obviously stupid and archaic licensing laws in Tasmania. Talk about a nanny state. Our last $38 bottle of red was 90% full when we had paid the bill and were ready to leave. Asked for a cap - impossible; you can't leave the premises with YOUR wine. Unbelievable, two extra staff arrived to ensure we didn't. Did anyway without a cap.

I recently visited this establishment while on holiday and found the practice of substituting Makers Mark Bourbon with a poor quality tasteless product was rife. This practice is becoming more common as bars struggle to make a profit. Most patrons are oblivious to what they are drinking and wouldn't notice. This is a great spot but struggle to see how it will ever make money although I may have uncovered something.Hi Andre, Thank you for the review. We are very sorry you are so misinformed. We have not and would never substitute a product with another with the hope that we could deceive a customer for profit. What you have stated is slander and we will pursue legal action. Beer battered fish of the day with chips and salad was beautiful. Salad was fresh and well seasoned. Chips were crisp and fish perfect. The Wagyu Beef was not so good. It was tough and showed no marbling. I wondered if, indeed, it was Wagyu. When mentioned to the waiter it was tough, he seemed surprised and said it was sous vied, so it shouldn’t have been tough. The vegetable which accompanied the beef were delicious.
