It is located in the Biscay (Bizkaia) province, administratively included in the Basque Autonomous Community, on the left bank of the Estuary of Bilbao. Barakaldo is part of Bilbao's metropolitan area (Greater Bilbao), and its official population at the 2011 census was 100,061 inhabitants living on a land area of 29.39 km (11.35 sq mi). The area has an industrial river-port heritage and has undergone significant redevelopment with new commercial and residential areas replacing the once active industrial zones.

37 degrees outside and the town is deserted. Half the places we want to visit are closed for their holidays. Fortunately El Huevo was not. Itâs a small place with a few tables outside. They specialise in pintxos with little fried quails eggs on top and they were delicious BUT the snacks made to order were even better - a skewer of succulent and tender octopus and prawn was amazing. We instantly ordered a second. A seemingly simple sandwich of tuna and pickled chillies was a revelation. We stayed longer than we should have, snacked some more, drank some more then moved on. Lovely friendly place. Great value. Great food.

This is such an authentic little place where you basically go for the great food.Pintxo moruno is simply to die for ( lamb meat with some amazing spices).The French Fries were like the home made ones ( no frozen potatoes) and simply delicious( they only serve big portions).We didn't try the mushrooms but we saw somebody ordering them and they looked mouth watering.Service is pretty quick and the prices are reasonable.It seems to be very popular within the locals so it's pretty crowded, better to get a reservation just in case.Parking might be a problem ( we parked within a 10-12 minutes walk from the restaurant).Such a great dinner/ snack/ lunch option!

Being ranked No 1 in TripAdvisor can't be easy but after a few minutes, I totally understood why!!Don't be put off by the normal looking outside or unsmiling bar man (which I think was the owner). After a few minutes, he'll be explaining what the many tasty pintxos are & what wines he has, all in a patient & friendly manner.We had 7 amazing savoury pintxos (& we wanted to try so many more!) plus a cheesecake (which was amazing & light but just sweet enough), along with 3 red wines & an alcohol free beer. Imagine our utter amazement when the bill came to 14.80 EUR, I thought he must have calculated something wrong!! But no, that's how good value it is here.We're only in Bilbao for 5 days but I'll definitely be hoping we have time for another visit as the food was so tasty, the wines were so good & the service was spot on.Good morning SuzeyQ. We went there with a coupon, and it was not bad. Neither good, but not bad. The service, not very good. The food, not too much (in the coupon it was not said that everything was one dish to share), and very simple, without any preparation. The overall, a 5. But one thing that really angry me is these kind of places that say "kobe burger", and it's not kobe. I was very surprised to see that on this restaurant, so it's on my list of robbers, like the irish tavern of Gorliz.

We took a day trip out of Bilbao and stopped at this place after reading TripAdvisor reviews. It is just a neighbourhood bar but the food was great. There are pintxos for â¬1 on the bar but we went for raciones including delicious and perfectly cooked solomillo and lovely muscles cabredos in a spicy sauce. A real surprise and highly recommended.

Fantastic restaurant. From the friendly and pleasant treatment from the waiters to the high quality of its food. Highly recommended the sirloin with mushrooms and foie. Sure we'll repeat.
