Very old pub little shady Shabby pub but good meals the rooms hasn't got a pleasant smell to it neither does the gaming area its very outdated though staff are very friendly and do there best to please and accommodate guest requests meals are not to badly priced though our steak was tough as boot leather we told them but had no response or explination to why but over all rest of meal was good and others at our table enjoyed what they had ordered so Bon appetite take care allThanks for reviewing - I will ensure your comments re the steak get to our chef to address. We fully agree that we are in need of an update and hope that our plans to renovate get implemented sooner rather than later!

Called in after driving for 2hrs, to be welcomed by delightful staff, lovely atmosphere and yummy coffee! Perfect. Well priced and efficient service. You won't be disappointed.

We were driving through Smithton before going on the Tarkine Drive and were looking for somewhere for lunch. The Tall Timbers complex is impressive - a hotel in expansive gardens, not what one expects to find in the far north west of Tasmania. The lunch menu is interesting - yes the standard grills are there, but the vegetable and accompaniments is what sets the meals apart. I enjoyed a pork loin (perfectly grilled) with baked pear, smashed potato, carrot purée and sautéed crisp greens which, unusually were Brussel sprouts which were delicious. My husband enjoyed the chefâs special - lamb with sweet potatoes, goats cheese etc. The only odd item was the bread which was doughy and scone like. Whilst staying at Arties we ate at the Tavern three nights in a row. The publican Tim is a friendly and accommodating host, providing cold beer and good conversation before a good old-fashioned pub meal.All the dishes were well cooked and the servings very generous. Great examples of Cape Grimm beef and local seafood were washed down with cold beer and unfortunately no room left for dessert!Thanks Tim for a great time.

We happened to pass this store and wanted to buy oysters to celebrate in our lodgings in Stanley. The place was closed and we were parked outside. All of a sudden a young lady popped out and asked if she could help us. She opened the store and we were able to buy two dozen great oysters.Very Nice!!
