Travelling from QLD we had a few stops and overnight stays and some places for food and coffee stops. But the Coonabarabran fish and chips were something else. Craig the owner was excellent to talk to and also gave good advice on places to stay during our trip. BUT the food we ordered was just brilliant I had fish cakes potato cakes my wife had chicko rolls and chips. We both could not fault them. I highly recommend this shop for a feed

Whilst staying at the Matthew Flinders Motel we decided to eat here one night. The food was good, especially the steak and the service friendly with little waiting for the food to be served. The meals are reasonably priced and the decor of the restaurant pleasant.

Eat-it Cafe & Takeaway

We always stop for a hot meal at Eat It when we are driving through Coonabarabran. We have been doing this for a number of years and have never been disappointed. The shop is not much to look at but there is plenty of parking right at the front door. The service is usually prompt and the hot meals are reasonably priced and always good serving sizes. Just what you need when driving long distances. Public toilets are just across the road so it is a one stop shop in Coonabarabran. Eat It is located just around the corner from the highway in the centre of town. We recommend any of their hot meals on the menu and their milkshakes and thick shakes are great too.

We were in town for the local races so there were more people around than normal. We ordered bacon and egg rolls to take away. The food was cooked quickly and there was plenty of bacon. The bread roll was great. Only downside waas the rind on the bacon. Not cheap compared to some towns but a quality offering

Good experience due to the fantastic service provided. The Amber Court is slightly out of town but worth the drive. The lady running the restaurant was on her own the night we visited but still managed to provide exceptional lamb shanks and service.

Acacia Motor Lodge Restuarant

Booked out both days we were there which is always a good indicator. Check in was easy and thankfully our room was downstairs. Good sized room with a couch and one desk chair. Bathroom was huge. Everything you could expect perhaps the lack of variety in teas. We’ve stopped at three other motels on our trip and the other three all offered a variety. A little thing but worth noting. Free breakfast was adequate and appreciated. Cereal, fruit, toast, tea and coffee. Catered for gluten free which was very much appreciated by my wife. Soy milk was also available on request. Restaurant was closed on our first night (Monday) so we ate at the Chinese restaurant across the road. We’d certainly stop here again.

We recently visited Coonabarabran and dropped into Tibuc Cafe for some lunch before visiting Siding Springs Observatory. Located approximately 2 kilometres from the Observatory, we enjoyed the food so much, we came back for brunch & afternoon tea the next day. We loved everything about this Cafe - The Menu (which can accommodate Gluten Free eaters as well), it is Licenced but also offered great coffee, teas & juice (plus more), it is off the beat on track (& I mean this literally. When you turn onto the dirt road, dont be concerned, as it is only a very short drive until you get there). The ladies who serve also cook, so allow yourself time to relax & enjoy the peaceful surroundings, or check out their gift shop which is filled with wonderful local treasures whilst you wait. You wont be disappointed with the food portions, quality or freshness, this cafe has it all. Keep in mind the draught has hit all our NSW country regions hard, so the grounds will take some time to recover, it is very dry out there. We are looking forward to returning from our city home again in the near future & spending more time at this wonderful cafe and supporting our country neighbours.
