What to do and see in Bay Islands, Bay Islands: The Best Historical & Heritage Tours

February 26, 2022 Augustus Redeker

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly island vacation, consider the Bay Islands. Each one appeals to different travelers—Roatan’s the most developed (but still not as built-up as, say, St. Thomas), Guanaia’s rustic and Utila’s in between. All three have great dive spots and beaches.

We had a great time with Angel. We did Island tour with him and used him for all the transportation we needed. Angel is a really nice guy and super knowledgeable, he also is a really good driver. He made the Island tour based on the places we wanted to see and also added couple of special places. If you go to Roatan, we would totally recommend to use Angels services, you will simply have great time and won't regret it.

Elias was our tour guide for our cruise stop in Roatan. We booked through Facebook and messaged through Whatsapp. Elias was in constant communication with us during the morning of our arrival, as we encountered a delay in docking due to a brief thunderstorm which passed through. We visited Manawakie Park, the Chocolate Factory & Rum Company, then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Ginger's. You will not find a more experienced or knowledgeable guide than Elias! We were so thankful to experience Roatan with Let's Go Roatan Tours!

Not sure this is always the case, but this island is way over crowded with cruise passengers most of the time. Lots of road construction everywhere. The stop at Daniel Johnson's Monkey & Sloth Hang Out was way underwhelming. The place is very small, not much more than a couple of backyard cages. It was hot, no way to buy a drink and not well planned by the tour operator. In my opinion, any tour of this location that involves being driven several miles is not a good idea at this time.
