Reviews on Italian food in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Council Bluffs is a city in and the county seat of Pottawattamie County, Iowa, United States. The city is the most populous in Southwest Iowa, and a principal city in the Omaha–Council Bluffs metropolitan area. It is located on the east bank of the Missouri River, across from Omaha, Nebraska. Council Bluffs was known, until at least 1853, as Kanesville. It was the historic starting point of the Mormon Trail. Kanesville is also the northernmost anchor town of the other emigrant trails, since there was a steam powered boat to ferry their wagons, and cattle, across the Missouri River.

This was definitely my favorite dining experience during a recent visit to Omaha. The restaurant is Amazing and offers authentic Italian cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to try the Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad. I usually tolerate Brussel Sprouts, but the way they were presented in this salad left me wanting more. The Margherita Pizza was the best I have ever tasted and the Pasta was sooo good. This restaurant is a gem and is located right next to the Bluebird Theatre. Be sure to check this restaurant out during your next visit to Omaha!

In Omaha during CWS, we were lucky to get a table here. We stopped in after getting turned away at other places due to long wait. We had amazing service and unforgettable food. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the pasta was yummy. Carrots were a surprise as a side dish, rather than asparagus but I ended up really liking them. A definite must if you enjoy Italian food.

Had heard about this steak house in the downtown area of Omaha and thought we would give it a try and we were quite disappointed. My husband had chicken parm which was served on a hot plate covered with sauce. I mean covered, the sauce was running over the plate. Couldn't even see the chicken there was so much sauce. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my advice is don't. Very bland and I didn't eat the meatballs as they were completely tasteless. The salad is also not anything special. Just a bowl of lettuce and croutons; no other vegetables like carrots or tomatoes...The two saving graces were the waitress was superb. Also they have great breadsticks.

While many members of the group had pasta dishes they reported as delicious, but portions were overly large, and when you are traveling and staying in the hotel without a fridge, it is just wasteful. My Bride and I shared a Caprese Pizza...nice enough, but you expect a nice Italian to have a good pizza, so no surprise and nothing to make it stand out. Salads as appetizers and I had a Negroni Cocktail, they called it their featured drink...very good service and even broke down the checks for individuals and couples. Would definitely go again.

My favorite pizza in town. Fast, good service even when busy. I usually take out of town visitors here and they have been please. Several lunch specials. They sell by slice or pie. They also give kids dough to play with while they wait. My favorite is a simple slice of cheese, but I haven’t had any type I did not enjoy here. I also recommend the calzones. Not a fan of the wings here though. Very cool location/ vibe inside.

Spaghetti Works

Admittidly, we were there on a Saturday evening. This must be the only family restaurant in downtown. I love kids. I have kids of my own. There's lots of families with kids here. I love big families. With kids there's always something going on. You'll find it here. Pasta is what pasta is. It's filling. Service was good but they did miss a critical point. We only foudn out afterward that a trip to the salad bar was included. Others in our party (served at a different table becuase they had to split us up) were offered the salad bar when they ordered their food. When we found out after we were finished our waiter said, "oh yeah, you want to to get you some plates." ---No. We're already done we replied. It was an honest oversight. No harm but it did happen. If I wanted some spaghetti i wouldn't object to going back there if someone suggested it. :-)Thanks so much for coming out. We're glad to see your entire party was able to get well fed, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We're sorry we missed explaining our ordering process better. Thank you for your understanding, and we can't wait to give you a delicious, complete Spaghetti Works experience when you come back. Hope to see you soon. Best, The Team at Spaghetti Works

Spaghetti Works Restaurant

This was the second time visiting Spaghetti works, hoping for something better than my last experience. Server was nice but unprofessional, telling us when and how we could order and eventually inviting herself to be part of our group (I took note of her name, but I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble). Food was nothing I wouldn't expect at a fast-food chain but it was okay. Sauces were under-seasoned. Salad Bar was characterized by a member of our group as "sorry excuse for a salad bar". The prices were okay, but compared to the experience, seriously over-priced. It's sad to say but this Omaha-area legend (Everyone knows Spaghetti Works) will very likely never get another visit from me.

First time in Omaha and went with trip advisor recommendation. There's a reason this place is ranked number one. Friendly service, a bit of history, and excellent pizza. When the owner found out we were first timers, he gave us a loaf of bread that they bake fresh everyday. This is more of a carry out business and the business coming in was constant on a Sat. afternoon. The owner set up a table for us to eat on. Very nice man. Highly recommend.
