We visit this place every year and have always been well looked after. I had soup and a pizza and would have it again happily. Staff are always friendly.

Loved the selection (standard flavours and some funky ones like bubblegum / melon / pomegranate). Nice, clean and also has free WiFi as well. Check it out if you are ever passing through downtown Luxor.

As others have noted, it is expensive... but ALL of the "top end" hotel restaurants are pricey and (in my experience) not very good. Last December ('14) we went to an Italian restaurant in a hotel more highly rated than the Sheraton and, despite glowing reviews on TA, it was terrible. You can imagine, then, that I felt none too enthusiastic when, because of a mix up, my partner and I had to eat at La Mamma's. We did not have starters. We both had veal with fries for our main. I awaited my veal with bated breath because several years ago I had it in Luxor's only formal dining room in a hotel famed for its grounds. It was so tough I could not chew it. Another problem is that although we ordered different sauces quite often they just dish up the same sauce, and sometimes not what you expect at all. So yes, I did have a down on this meal before it was even served. You will be pleased to know (although not as pleased as me) that the veal was lovely, and plenty of it. Juicy, tasty and tender. The sauces were completely different entities and proved delicious. I do not like veg or salad in Egypt and usually just have fries. As fries go, they were blooming good. Red hot and rustling out of the fryer, a little thicker than a Big Mac fry and beautifully crisp. We cleared our plates and I can honestly say it was the best hotel meal I have had in almost 30 years of visiting Luxor. Desserts are usually not worth having, but being so impressed with the main we ordered desserts. Wished we hadn't! The dessert confirmed my view that hotel food in Luxor is overpriced and on the whole not good. The head waiter had no charisma at all. The other waiter was perfunctory. We had a bottle of wine. My partner told me that the meal (with wine) and another bottle of wine later in the bar came to £100 sterling. (We had Cap Bay at LE260 a bottle). Had the desserts been better I would have stretched to 4 stars

I know it has been a while since I've been there, but better late than never! I am so glad that other people have found this little gem and are continuing to enjoy the great service and food. I was staying a few nights at the Steigenberger Hotel in Luxor, and I like to venture out and take in some of the local flavor in a new place. I had not wandered very far at all before I came across Castello, and was so happy that I did. Absolutely the most welcoming and friendly dining experience, and the food was fantastic. Budget friendly, too! I wish I could have eaten every meal there. The wood fired pizza was delicious, as well as a vegetable dish (eggplant, etc.) in tomato sauce, kind of like a lasagna, but called something else that I can't remember. Please, give Castello your business when visiting Luxor, and you will not be sorry!

I found this restaurant in Luxor, Egypt using the Trip Advisor app and decided to go and eat with my Puertorican friends because the restaurant has really good reviews!! And the reviews are REAL!
