I'd highly recommend popping in for a visit. As soon as we arrived we were greeted & told about the history of the place. She recommend walking around the dam, walking through the barn (they had some history/photos etc in there) looking at the mine shafts etc etc and then we walked back to have a drink & a meal for lunch. There are some animals there but I didn't have a look at them. If you had kids, they would love it here.I'm not a vegetarian but I had the gnochi and it was the best i've ever eaten. I also had a Scrumpy Cider and it was very good. Didn't taste like vinegar like most Scrumpys. It was just right. The only downfall, was the seating. The seats were made out of used apple crates. They were a bit to large and so your feet dangle, not touching the ground & you have to watch out for splinters ! but I would still come back here again !I ended up buying a carton of cider on the way out.Loved it.

I've thoroughly enjoyed 3 meals from frylanders so far. Firstly I had chips and snapper, it was beautifully cooked with good size portion at an affordable price. My next meal was the Aussie burger which was unreal! Classic Aussie burger with Beetroot and egg. I went back for more later and got the fish and chips to share which was also delicious. Consistent quality, fab service and very affordable. Glad to see this new addition to donnybrook.

I went in yesterday for a coffee and the “open” sign was still on the door, it was 3.10pm and I saw online they were open until 4pm. I went in and asked were they still open as the flag was brought in from outside. The lady said yes. I then asked for a coffee and the lady was not impressed. Then another lady came out of the kitchen and they started making eyes at each other right in front of me because she had to make a coffee. I said “it’s okay I don’t feel like a coffee please cancel my order”. I then went up the road to a more friendlier cafe where the customer service was exceptional and the staff there had plenty of smiles. By reading the other reviews on here about customer service I can completely relate. Definitely will not be back to this place, ever.

Travelled today for lunch at Smallwater. We had made a reservation. Generally pretty disappointed!A quiet day but even so the one staff member on was struggling to deal with the cellar door and the restaurant. We were acknowledged but waited about 15 minutes to be seated at our table. Too long. The menus were interesting and varied. There was only one small bottle of soda available when we asked for sparkling mineral water. A complimentary bowl of spiced nuts was appreciated. We were disturbed by the volume of the music and asked (twice) that it be turned down. Such an imposition when seated overlooking a beautiful, otherwise relaxing rural lake & vineyard scene with birds singing! The food was enjoyable though not special. The marron pie was OK and did contain a reasonable amount of the Wineries own marron. Both dishes though, lacked anything in the way of presentation. The pie was served with a small amount of mashed potato topped with a dash of dried green decoration. $45! In my opinion too expensive even for marron - the pie was small, albeit well made! Would we return? Probably not. Would we recommend? No.HiFirstly, we would like to thank you for taking time to leave your review. Secondly, we would like to apologize that your experience was not what you expected. If I can explain: As you arrived at the cellar door, as did 10 other guests, some expected, some not, some where late for there booking and some early. Unfortunately, this cannot be helped, but as a result everyone came to the cellar door at once. To wait 15 minutes to be seated is unacceptable, and for this we apologize, and we have addressed this. I do need to let you know that whilst you were waiting to be seated, your husband had a wonder through the restaurant and was approached outside the kitchen by the chef and was asked if everything was ok, your husband replied “yes” and “im just waiting for my wife”.Unfortunately, after an unplanned super full restaurant over the weekend (days & nights & unexpected) we had ran out of some items including sparkling mineral water, this cannot be helped. It was advised that you wanted the music turned down, this was done for you (twice) even though the first time we were asked by other diners why had we turned the music down, ”can you turn it back up”! The music is easy listening blues & jazz. Being a working winery we do not have birds singing. The views, food and music work hand in hand, we are rustic and relaxed. We receive so many compliments about the music, more than negatives. With regards to the marron, we offer 80g of marron, this is condensed down so you can appreciate the marron, making a dish any bigger would make it a mixed marron pie, and the mash equates to 3 potatoes, each the size of an avocado’s, the “dried greens” is actually fried kale and Asian greens, not for decoration but to compliment the flavours of the marron and mash. The marron is the most expensive item on our menu and this is because it is hugely expensive for us to buy, it’s all relative. As you know your husband had the tapas croquettes for $12, we are far from expensive for the type of food we do.Whilst we do not like to receive a bad review, we look at it constructively and take it on board, however in this case the only thing we feel is not acceptable is the 15 minutes wait time. Everything else is how we do things. We accept the fact that you will probably not return and that you would not recommend us and for this we feel disappointed, but we cannot please everybody, we wish we could. Thank you for taking the time to read our reply.
