Our Tour group took lunch here in the âQueen of Heartsâ Restaurant, allegedly named for Princess Diana. It is a splendid large old Ballroom. Located right by the main Tourist attractions - Temple of the Tooth & Royal Palace & part of the World Heritage site itself. Lunch was, as usual, buffet style and acceptable in quality & quantity.

I can highly recommend this restaurant. We ate Chicken Kottu and it was the best we ate so far in Sri Lanka. The Owner is really friendly and the food is local, fresh and so tasty. If you are in Kandy you need to visit this place.

Youâll find this place opposite the red & white mosque. Itâs extremely busy at lunchtime with locals pouring in here for their lunch hour. Pretty quiet outside lunch hours and it does have a quieter first floor with balcony. My Caesar Salad was good although it could have done with more cheese and some anchovies in the sauce. My partnerâs seafood chowder was a bit of a let down - too thin and full of chopped peppers and chicken (?). Weâd come back here and stick to local favourites. The kotthu guy seemed very busy :)Thank you for the review. The downstairs is not part of Cafe1886 and we operate only in upstairs. your comments on the chowder is noted and will strive to improve.

Chill place in a crowded city, really good coffee and breakfast. I totally recommend this place, specially because the of the fact that itâs not so easy to find a place like that in the middle of Sri Lanka.

Not quite sure why this is number 1 on TA? It was pretty average. Tasty but nothing special. The concept is okay, a bit gimmicky. Wouldnât go back. Had the best avocado toast and mango/passionfruit smoothie of my life here today! Such a great place, it was the second time I came here this week. The Banana Man is really kind and is happy to adapt his recipes to your liking.
