Reviews on Contemporary food in Singapore, Singapore. A true melting pot of cultures, Singapore has many personas. The people who live here are predominantly a mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences. Each neighborhood offers a distinct atmosphere and cultural experience, but all are easy to explore and safe for all kinds of visitors. Food: had the semi-buffet dinner. Buffet selection was more than decent. The salami and cheese selection was good. 8/10 Ordered medium lamb ribs and seafood bisque for main courses. Food is good but not excellent. For people with larger appetite will find it too small. 7/10. The main course is just lacking some x-factor.Service: Outstanding. Manish and Angie were excellent. They were attentive and were always checking if everything is fine, without being intrusive. It's a fine line to thread and they did it perfectly.11/10Conclusion. Would come here again. Wouldn't mind paying a little more to get a nicer main course. Otherwise it would be perfect.

What an amazing experience! It was a birthday surprise for me by my husband and loved every bit of it.Jaan isn't just about food or drinks but it's about overall experience.Heavy on wallet and definitely not everyday or even every month thing. But certainly, once in lifetime atleast.Amazing service, great ambiance and delicious food. I'm a vegetarian and have certain food allegy which was very well taken care of. Before every serving, they explained all the details on that particular item and checked if it was OK with us. Felt so special and impressed.By the time we finished our main course, we're already so full but couldn't resist from trying out the dessert. I don't have a sweet tooth but I finished the dessert in one go!Came back home with happy stomach and happy heart.Highly recommended if the budget permits

Impressed by the good reviews and the attractive executive set lunch menu and price, I booked a table for a weekday lunch with my boss and two colleagues in celebration of their recent promotion. Being finicky diners, I had to make sure that I chose a place that would appeal to their refined tastebuds (they are French and good cooks). The fact that the restaurant is located in the iconic Shangri-La Hotel is already a plus point and we hoped it would match the quality standard of the hotel’s reputation. We were warmly and cordially greeted and seated. The restaurant has touches of ‘maritime’ (look at the hanging lamps); the place is bright with a high ceiling and arches, contrasted by deep wood tones and teal-coloured chairs. Prior to our meal, we were served a complimentary basket of freshly baked sourdough rolls that were delicious; crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.During our first visit, one of the choices for starters was grilled octopus, which my French counterparts opted for and thoroughly enjoyed. For the main course I chose the Wagyu steak which turned out very well, tender and tasty with a hint of smoke from the grill. The fish option was also good. The restaurant manager was friendly and accommodating and service was very cordial and efficient. Based on my first experience, I decided to select this venue for my mother’s 85th birthday and it turned out to be one of the best celebrations we have had. There were 12 of us and we had the use of the lovely, spacious private room where we had a flower arrangement delivered and set a balloon on the table to add to the party touch. We also had individual menus and place names prepared for each guest. Our hostess that afternoon was Pei San who was both attentive and fun and made sure we had what we needed. The different courses came out at good timings and she also got the cake (ordered from the hotel bakery) ready with the candles and brought it in at the appropriate time. Everyone enjoyed their meals and were treated to more desserts than expected. We certainly appreciated the restaurant manager for making time to come into the room to personally wish my mother a happy birthday. I would like to commend the establishment for empowering their staff to allow them to be flexible and to be able to grant guests’ little wishes when they are doable and feasible. My mother has repeatedly mentioned that she would like to celebrate her next birthday here again and I do think that is what we plan to do.Dear Ophir77,Thank you for your kind review! My wife and I sat through the 8 course culinary adventure with Chef Stephen.Chef Stephen from Austria is a very friendly chef, he came by our table a few times both to introduce the dishes and ingredients as well as to check on the food quality. The high tables and chairs were not comfortable but that was more than compensated by the high quality of food. From the first course, it was evident Chef Syephen doesnt like any one flavour to overwhelm our taste buds. For eg, foie gras usually leaves a big overwhelming aftertaste but his dish coupled woth citrusy flavours so we didnt felt overwhelmed. The halibut fish was slow cooked to perfection but topped with crunchy bits. The iberico pork cheek was soft amd so....ooo good. Even the strawberry sorbet ice cream (normally would make adults cringe at the sourness) was nicely encased in a white choc magnum case. So ot was very very well balanced. We are true food conneiseurs and hv been blessed to hv always eaten at some of tge best places in the world. Here for $150, we get a very enjoyable dinner that was more than his one michellin star. Chef Stephen's delicate balancing act is almost Japanese-like.Highly recommend. The other chefs and staff were also responsive and professional. Very good place for a special dinner.Dear vincentlau, We would like to thank you for dining with us at Chef's Table by Chef Stephan. It was us a pleasure to host you. Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about your experience.
