We felt a bit like going back in olden times when sitting down at the heavy wooden tables. We had the mixed churrasco and it was well prepared and tasty. And....plenty!! Like a LOT!! All in all cheap and cheerful, but not for the fine dining type of clients. Dirty hands and finger licking, but good!

Areal is a smart bar/bistro on a quiet street. A surprising find in a small town. There is a good selection of fish, meat & pizza to choose from. As we were getting a bit overdosed on seafood we chose some simple steaks. There is a choice of cuts and the meat was perfectly cooked-pink & tender inside, slightly charred outside. The taste was divine. It was simply served with nice chips & we opted for a salad to accompany it. My husband also managed a desert of what seemed to be a sort of trifle-this was also good.Although the lovely waiter didn’t speak English we managed to get all that we wanted without any problem. The place had a really good atmosphere. The icing on the cake-the bill for 2 steaks with a shared salad, crusty bread, one desert & fizzy water for us both was €43. An excellent dinner.

We were offered a table in the back of the restaurant, perhaps a function room and gloomy compared to the main restaurant. We waited a long time for service as the restaurant was very busy. However the seafood soup was certainly worth the wait and extremely good value. We also enjoyed the pork churrasco which was well seasoned and freshly prepared for us. So yes, it was worth the wait. Excellent value, just don't end up in the back room!
