We came here to row and as time went by we brought with us Americans, architects and consultants. We joined forces with the people of Avis and Danish, Norwegians, Dutch and even New Zealanders started arriving. Some, after being here, became Olympic Champions. All the trees are still standing here, we simply added some more. For Andaluz, the resident donkey, we found a friend, Catalão. The partridges, hares and weasels are still here. The Wild boars come for a visit every now and then. We are pleased to welcome you to a different Alentejo, a land thet we embraced and want to share.

I decided Monday morning that I wanted to get out of Lisbon and found this amazing place, still with the possibility of a two day stay. The architecture is bold, still totally fitting the environment. Spectacular pool, one of the nicest rooms I have had, perks by Occitane and a hand-written note welcoming you. The snacks at the pool are good, the food at the restaurant has a fair choice for everybody, breakfast combines local with what you can expect from a 5 star breakfast. Last, but not the least, the people. In a time when good manners are not valued, here we have an example that educated people make all the difference. Thanks to everyone, from Tania and Ana at the reception, to the lovely people who were at the pool. I shall return (as Zorro would say) to have a go at rowing.

Welcome to Monte do Ramalho!This is a typical “herdade alentejana” with more than 100 years in the same family.Initially founded as an agricultural production farm, Monte do Ramalho gather all the conditions to host our guests in a cozy and tranquilizing environment.In 2011, the houses suffered small improvements and redecoration in order to being able to host tourism activity.
Magical Place !
Reviewed By Benjamin SMonte do Ramalho is a magical place ! It has everything : charm, authenticity, calm, beauty, peace, spirit … we couldn’t find a better place to get married. As we didn’t know so much Portugal, we travelled during 2 weeks all over Portugal and we did not find a place that brings together so many qualities. We had the place for a big group during 5 days and everything was perfect. But it is not only about the place, it’s about the people and the staff ! Manuela and the staff are so kind and so nice, so reactive (you can expect answers to your emails 5 minutes after sending them, even in the night!) they find a solution for absolutely everything in a glance (extra beds, helping with the decoration of the ceremony, cutting the grass in a specific way, helping getting more alcohol last minute, finding amazing bar tenders, etc.) ! They are always willing to help, open and respectful, with amazing taste and sense of details, having a smile on their face all the time. We had amazing breakfast and picnic with them : it was so good and so well decorated, all the guest were blessed with everything. We were two French who didn’t speak a word of Portuguese and we have only one regret : going though external wedding planner for some part of the celebration, rather than going directly with Monte do Ramalho. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need more details, I would warmly recommend the place (and the staff) for any couple wanting a magical celebration (or anyone wanting amazing vacations). Thank you for allowing us to have the best day of our lives!
