Went here for a special birthday dinner on 8/30 at 8:30pm. Vibe is nice and sophisticated. We were shown to our table right away. Service was awesome throughout the night. Water was refilled right away. Plates cleared right away. But there were some gaps (not sure if it was intentional or not) in between meals. Making the whole dinner almost 3 hours. We chose the 7 course (probably should have done the 5 course). The first two appetizers, Scallops and beet dishes were really really good. I was excited to see what the entree was. The first, Salmon (sous vide) was really good. I never had it prepared that way before. The next 2 was a tad disappointing. It was King crab with cod. the crab was on avocado which I didn't think worked at all. The cod was ok. The main entree was an elaborate presentation of beef cheek and tenderloin. The meat was cooked perfectly, but I thought the sauce was unnecessary. It over powered the beef. The dessert course was nice. For the price, I thought the food could have been a little bit better. But the service was fantastic.

Lava Restaurant

LAVA Restaurant combines modern design with the wild spirit of Icelandic nature. Built into a stunning lava cliff, with views over the lagoon, it is an unforgettable setting for a relaxed lunch, a family dinner or a romantic evening meal.

My partner booked this as a surprise after the blue lagoon as an expensive treat for my birthday. We usually go away for my birthday and have always been made a fuss off when in a restaurant. No such luck at this restaurant in fact it wasn't even acknowledged. The table was in the middle of the room and should have been for 4 people. The waiter was nice enough and very pleasant. My partner really enjoyed his beef dinner. I had catch of the day which was a bit tough and rubbery. We didnt have dessert so cant comment. Overall it was ok however for the cost of a meal I'm sure there are better dining experiences.

This was our 3rd time at Salthusid ("Salthouse") and it is always good. Small dining room was pretty full by the time we left. Excellent garlic langoustine appetizer and salmon.I wasn't as hungry and had the burger which was quite good for Iceland, where burgers can be hit or miss!
