In the middle of an "Aldeia de Xisto", in Janeiro the Cima, you can find Fiado. The restaurant is a beautiful open space and the food is quite traditional and tasty. I would skip the main dish and just enjoy the starters and the dessert.Thank you very much for your kind words!We hope to see you again soon.Best regards

We ordered traditional dishes feojaca (beans and pork meat) and a trout escabeche, both were very well prepared, we choose an organic red wine, good quality and good price.

Helana is still probably the best place to eat in Idanha but it seems to have fallen on hard times, somewhat. And they seem to be cutting corners somewhat too. There's more local competition and bookings seem to be falling off, there is more limited opening hours and they are even offering 30% discounts! I have probably ate there 20 times over the years and my recent visit was not so good - very salty food, served very quickly and the microwave oven seemed to get a lot of use. They still have a classy ambience, good wine list and potentially good food and should be supported where the locals predominantly want cheap, unsophisticated quick lunches and dinners.It seems like they need some good marketing to draw in people from further afield and get the bookings up. Visited this place last week. It was highly ranked on tripadvisor, and we were staying for a week around Covilhã, called them and 10min later arrived. The place is very quiet and comfortable. Loved the relaxed scenery and the views overlooking the garden and the pool. Great for families, and understood its quite popular among locals, although not walking distance from the center (car is needed).The food was reasonable and the table of deserts amazing! Just found a very poor wine list, should be improved in the future.
