The whole dining experience was superb and its easy to see why Vero Bistro receives such high ratings. This was a very special occasion and I visited the restaurant prior to ask for some specific considerations i.e. seating / timing of courses and they happily obliged. We were welcomed, seated immediately and were well and professionally taken care of through the entire meal. We had the Chef's Tasting - 4 courses- and were highly satisfied with each course. We had a goat cheese salad, Pici Bolognese, the duck and a delicious custard dessert. The food was very fresh and the flavours were incredible. Our server, Jody(?), made excellent recommendations for both food and wine and ensured we were well taken care of throughout the evening by checking with us at appropriate intervals. As well, the chef prepared us an additional dessert as it was a special occasion. Everything about our evening was perfect. The service, food, ambiance was extraordinary and would like to thank the staff for going out of their way to make the evening very special. We will definitely return and highly recommend Vero Bistro Moderne. We are very pleased you had a wonderful evening, and thankyou for choosing us for your special occassion, it is always our pleasure to make the best possible experience for all guests. We will share this review with Jody and all our staff, they will be pleased .Thanks again!Michael

I love Holland and I love the pannenkoek. For me, even though it may sound pretty stereotypical, the pannenkoek and clog represent some of the best of Dutch culture. Whenever I’ve visited Amsterdam, I always make it a point to dine on at least a couple of these delicious, filling Dutch “pancakes.” From savory to sweet, they make for a good meal any time of the day. It is for this reason that I was beyond excited to learn of an authentic Dutch pannenkoek house (or haus) in Calgary. Indeed, my anticipation to try this eatery only grew after I’d learned it’d received many a nod and accolade from the likes of “You Gotta Eat Here!” (2012), the CBC and the Daily Hive. Real Dutch fare in Calgary? Count me in!Open since 1997, the Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus has become something of a Calgary breakfast-brunch dining institution. Even in the current day – some 22 years later – this casual eatery, nestled in an unassuming strip mall, still commands long lines of hungry patrons. From the outside looking in, this can only be perceived as a good sign because it demonstrates demand and is indicative of good food that people crave. Thankfully, our party’s wait time was only a very reasonable 15 minutes. The interior of Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus is casual yet cozy, despite the hordes of people waiting at the door and the flurry of activity inside. Adorned with various Dutch trinkets, and painted in the typical shades of blue, the Haus exudes a welcoming, family-oriented vibe and is thus vintage Dutch. The servers, while extremely busy, are still personable and friendly, further adding to the appealing atmosphere of place and space. After consulting the extensive menu, I settled on the Heaven’s Delight, which was indeed heavenly and featured a heap of mandarin oranges, ice cream, whipped cream and orange liqueur in a chocolate cup. On the whole, I enjoyed my pannenkoek – it reminded me of my time in Amsterdam. The top of my “pancake” had a slight crunch to it while the bottom remained soft and fluffy, resulting in a nice contrast of textures which played well with the heap of sweet toppings (which can be toned down a bit, I think).FOOD: 4/5SERVICE: 4/5VALUE: 4/5RECOMMENDATION: The Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus represents a beautiful slice of Holland in “Cow Town.” With its unique and beautifully executed offerings, it has certainly earned its accolades. If you’re in the area, this place comes highly recommended, for it is indeed a Dutch dining treat! PS: If you found this review helpful in any way please consider hitting the "helpful" button! Thanks so much for taking the time to write out this lovely review. I am glad to see you enjoyed your first time and we do hope to see you in again very soon. The Heaven's Delight and the Black Forest Pannenkoek are the two things on the menu with the most toppings...we try to give customers the most for their money. It is often recommended to share this one as it does have quite a lot and is filling. You are more than welcome to request less toppings or get them on the side to control how much goes on the pannenkoek that way you will not be as overwhelmed because this particular one does get filling. Once again thanks so much for writing us this kind review and we do hope to see you in again soon.

We enjoyed the pâté, the steak frites, the rabbit, and the lemon tart. All were superb! Service was great! House red was nice. In all, our dinner was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, due to the cramped seating, the loud and racey conversation between the two “ladies” seated beside us dampened our experience.

The best fine dining in Calgary! We had a 7 course dinner and everything was delicious, the service was impeccable and the wine and coffee were a perfect compliment to the meal. My personal favourite was the beef tenderloin! If I could rate this restaurant a 6 out of 5, I would. I have heard their lunch specials are a great deal too!
