Being a Calgarian I sometimes take for granted our beautiful spruce meadows site.
It always has interesting events taking place. World class horse jumping competitions with competitors from all over the world to local dog competitions or weddings this venue is beautiful.
Depending on the event you may have to pay a small fee for parking. There are huge parking areas on grassy area around spruce meadows
There is a large outdoor area as you enter .there are manmade ponds with water statues. There is a large arena where the shows take place. There is a beautiful clubhouse that depending on the event may be open to the public.
There aretrade shows that take place here in concert with different showjumping events. There are marching bands cultural shows stables with prized horses. In the fall the colours are beautiful. In summer the grounds are well manicured and the flowers planted burst with colour. For the larger venues there are often companies selling food on the grounds and local vendor sponsor tents. There are public service agencies advertising how they can be of service.
Even if there is not a special event it is worth while travelling out to check out spruce meadows.
As for bathrooms, there are many in most areas. They are clean and well serviced.
You can picnic on the grounds but if there is a special event don't bother. There are plenty of food outlets.
I love the spacious open feeling of spruce meadows.

Absolutely love the Fish Creek park network of trails. Wonderful place to escape the City for a run or bike ride. I've accessed the trail from many different points and would love to one day explore the whole thing on a bike. Because I don't live in Calgary and only come to visit family, this place offers me the perfect little escape to go for a run, or to go for a walk with other family members. Trails are not plowed in winter very well.

Gasoline Alley MuseumVisit Calgary10 Indoor Activities in Calgary

Gasoline Alley Museum is a celebration of industrial design illuminated by a storyline that follows the far-reaching social changes that resulted from the introduction and popularization of the automobile. The museum contains thousands of automobile memorabilia items, most dating from before the Second World War. Local businessman, Ron Carey, generously donated the items to Heritage Park so that they could be put on display for public enjoyment, while being properly maintained. The artifacts displayed at the museum date from the turn of the 20th century to the 1950s and include vintage vehicles, unique gasoline pumps and many products and signage from a host of petroleum companies. Most of the items on display in Gasoline Alley Museum were painstakingly restored by Mr. Carey and his staff.

Although it will never be perfectly and completely clear, the City does a pretty good job of keeping large stretches of the wonderful pathway system adequate for winter walking and cycling. Calgary is lucky that there are long periods of time without a great deal of snow, so once the snow is cleared from pathways, they stay clear for quite a while. Do take care around the odd icy patch, though. Calgarians make great use of the excellent pathway system all year, so visitors should give it a try - just bundle up for the weather.

I absolutely love the walk from memorial drive through the park into downtown. There are a couple different Bridges to cross over the bow river. Either one gives you a delightful picturesque view of the river, Mountains, park and the city. It's so beautiful to have a mix of all the different elements at once! Once in the park you can feed the ducks and skate on one of the ponds! It's awesome! Within the park even though you can see parts of the city line sky scrapers it's peaceful and you feel like you are walking in a winter wonderland. There is paid parking on both the memorial drive side and downtown side at Eau Clair market...the market isn't much to see however there are a few good restaurants and a movie theatre and gym there too, so it's for sure an area you can make a day trip to, and do multi activities, both in and outdoors at once! It's worth the visit! Always a pleasure!
