After having spent a long afternoon and paying for multiple rounds of overpriced drinks in Woo Bar and then dining in the adjacent Kitchen Table for dinner, we asked to return back to Woo Bar and requested a table near the entrance almost identical to the table we had occupied throughout the afternoon. We were told that the table (early on a Monday evening during a typhoon....) would have a minimum spend of $15,000. The staff was so shockingly dismissive to that fact that our party had spent well over that amount already throughout the afternoon that we left immediately. There were many empty tables and asking for such an absurd minimum spend during a quiet Monday night has proven that Woo Bar staff have not been trained in proper hospitality. This incident was such a disappointment because we had enjoyed our afternoon and evening so far. We would be far more accepting of this type of policy during a busy time for the bar, but staff being unable to accommodate paying customers like this is truly poor form.Dear TCJ92,Thank you for sharing us your valuable comments with us. We went to this restaurant because it was ranked in TA among the top Japanese restaurants in Taipei. Yet the food was uninspiring, mediocre at best. In fact, it was the meal in Taipei we least enjoyed. We soon found the reason for the placeâs high ranking. As we were obviously foreigners, the manager/owner said that if we posted a five-star review on TA he would give us a free appetizer. Apparently, they have been using this practice to boost their ratings, because nothing else would explain their being ranked the 17th best restaurant in Taipei. This is unfortunate, because it really takes away from the rankingâs credibility. Lesson learned: we will still check TAâs listings, but take the ratings with a grain of salt.Hi there,I'm really sorry that you did not enjoy or satisfy our seafood we offered. I appreciated for your feedback but I believe you must misunderstand something. We just would like to encourage our guests to give us feedback and ratings via TA. We've never asked the guests to give us 5stars ratings. Also, if our food is not good or with high quality, I believe there will be no guests to give us high ratings just because some little appetizer. Our TA ratings come from different nationalities and cities. All of them are voluntarily. It's really not easy to gain the ratings and we respected all guests no matter good or bad feedback. However, we also need to defense our good will if needed. I can guarantee we offered the most fresh and best quality of seafood in Taipei City. Perhaps our staffs did not introduce you our signatures or meet your needs and preference. Pls do give us an opportunity to visit again and I'll make you taste the best and special seafood you've never experienced. Hope to see you again. Thank you
