It's been one of my favourites for years and the old traditional dishes and favourites are still being served. Enjoyed my cantonese style duck with plum sauce but food has moved on and for sheer excitement and innovation, would now prefer Dialogue. The service is still excellent and very attentive.

Filled with locals for breakfast, it is obviously very popular. but we felt totally ripped off.It was the most expensive breakfast we have had and we left hungry They have indoor and outdoor seating and tables are packed close together. You can't but overhear your neighbors conversationsIf you don't want their combination plates everything is al a carte I ordered fried eggs and that is what I got, two eggs on a large plate with no garnish or toast. Toast as was everything else was extra. My husband did order rye toast and got a single piece cut in half. The hot baked grapefruit was good but for some reason instead of bringing it first was served with the eggs.Breakfast for two was over $50 and definitely not worth it.

Loved our server Ella. She was accommodating and reactive to our needs. We came early for happy hour and the Dine LA dinner for $39 at a set price. We ordered happy hour drinks and appetizers first. Liked the Charcuterie board with meats, cheeses, figs, and olives. Loved the SM XPA santa monica beer at $6. other mixed featured happy hour drinks were $8 and sweeter. Had two of the beers though and loved the flavor. Edamame with truffle salt was good but did not taste the salt much. The appetizer shrimp and poke looked better than the meat appetizer I had. My wife liked it. I was a little dissapointed with the fish choice on dine LA of Branzino as it was not that tasty and had a strange cinnamon taste that did not go with the fish. Fish was OK not great and soft and flaky as I like. I ate it all though. The lava cake dessert was really delicious and loved it. We did not experience the normal menu which had a lot of nice things to consider so this is really on the Happy Hour and dine LA menu. We loved the patio, restaurant was empty as we were early before 6 but Happy hour area as more filled. I would probably go back if in the area as I live far away to try rest of menu

This was my first visit to Blue Stove and was quite surprised that the restaurant was not all busy since the Santa Monica 3rd St. area was all congested with traffic and the public parking lot was almost full at 5:45 PM.The server was attentive and friendly who recommended the best dishes to try. I ordered a salad with tomatoes, mozzarella and croutons, a risotto with scallop, a roasted cauliflower side and a blueberry cobbler. All were different flavors that I enjoyed immensely. I was not surprised at the small servings since the restaurant has been described by others as a "tapas style". However, small plates allowed me to try many dishes and not get over-filled at one course. I look forward to returning to try their other dishes.
