Came here via Trip Adviser recommendation. The place was small, narrow and dark. Many of the tables were raised with wire like seats. The hamburger was excellent and the fish tacos were very good as was the sliced steak sandwich. Beer was good, prices were a bit high.

After spending some time at the pier, we were looking for an actual restaurant to celebrate my twin sisters birthday! This fit the bill perfectly. I loved the atmosphere especially coming in from the heat! The food was good...wait staff were attentive and the general ambiance was relaxing. Very good experience.

We loved it here!!! We found it accidentally and were so happy we did!! The food was excellent especially the steak fries, the bowls, the mashed potatoes and the cream corn! My daughter said afterwards that she could have made an entire meal of the cream corn because it was that good! Our waiter Melvin was fabulous - he was so good with the kids we had in our party and kept up with drinks and checked in often. We all said it was our favorite meal of our 10 day California vacation! Highly recommend!! We would definitely go back if we were ever in Santa Monica again!

The Misfit Restaurant & Bar

New restaurant near the walking mall in Santa Monica CA

Do you like $5 lunches? I do - which is why I take friends who are visiting during a weekday to the Misfit for the $5 Bar Fly deals. Monday-Friday the Misfit will have one dish for $5 if you sit at the bar between 12-4 (no saving seats). Happy hour also happens during the same time. My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich on Thursday’s. The chicken is moist on the inside but perfectly crunch on the outside and complemented by the coleslaw accompaniment. On this visit, we tried the ahi tuna burger which was cooked rare and was so very good. I liked the brioche bun and there was a slight level of spiciness that went well with the pickle provided. They give you complimentary salt chocolate chip cookies at the end when you pay your check. Love the food, the service is hit or miss. I think the bartenders get stressed when there are a lot of people and so you need to be patient. However the server who recently helped us thanked us for our patience and was nice overall. It might be a struggle to find a spot at the bar so just go during an off time to avoid crowds. The decor is cool and hip although it’s a bit annoying that the bathrooms are on the second floor. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, given its proximity to Third St Promenade, this restaurant has really good food. Try to come during lunch or happy hour to take advantage of the deals, otherwise just enjoy the free chocolate chip cookies and know that you’re eating at a high quality restaurant.

We picked this restaurant away from the main drag because it was conveniently close to our concert venue, McCabe’s Guitar Shop. So glad we did! The dishes were delicious, sized just right for a late night bite. I had the pork tenderloin, cooked medium rare with a rich, dark sauce and goat’s cheese mashed potato. My wife had the salmon, perfectly seasoned and served with couscous - not usually a favorite of ours, but very enjoyable in this preparation. Service was brisk and friendly, the wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced, and the decor was pleasant to look at - large original canvases. It was a bit noisy, and tables were close together, but it suited our mood. A great find in a city with many restaurants, most not nearly as good as The Upper West!
