Reviews on Japanese food in Easton, Maryland, United States. Named one of the best small towns in America, Easton, Maryland is a haven of quiet streets and quirky festivals. First settled in the 17th century, Easton has remained an active community since Colonial times. The Third Haven Meeting House, built in 1682 by the local Quakers, is still used for Sunday meetings to this day. Visit during the annual Waterfowl Festival, when residents deck their historic homes with green boughs, and local artists pay tribute to the Canadian Geese flying overhead.

U Sushi

U Sushi offers respectable sushi, sashimi and rolls and I don’t hesitate to go for these items. The staff is pleasant and the dining room attractive, though not very comfortable. The problem is with the beyond-Sushi menu. If dining companions don’t like sushi, the other offerings simply aren’t very good. The tempuras are a bit greasy, the pad Thai is non descript well - as the other menu items seem to me. So if we want sushi, we generally end up elsewhere.

Sakura - Sushi Restaurant

Reviewed By Raymond V

The impossible dream: to find good Oriental food on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After working in Northern Virginia for almost twenty-five years and being blessed with Peking Gourmet, we were spoiled. Yet we keep trying to find an alternative to making the 90 mile pilgrimage to the Culmore Shopping Center to satisfy our cravings.Sakura is easy to find, on Route 50 going north, and easy to miss if you are distracted. Traffic usually flows at speed in that sector, and accessing the parking lot requires a little maneuvering and vigorous braking, as it is likely you will have an F-150 with its high beams on on your tail as you approach the restaurant. The ambience is inoffensive and the staff is friendly. We had house salads, miso soup, pan fried pork gyoza, egg drop soup, chicken Katsu Don, General Tso's chicken, chicken Lo Mein and shrimp fried rice. The house salads were very modest, mostly salad dressing and some lettuce. The miso soup reminded me of our swimming pool when the cover is removed in the spring after a long winter. The egg drop soup, however, was quite good and substantial. We all liked our entrees, but none was memorable. To be fair, the portions are large and it is very likely you will take home leftovers, and possibly have enough for another meal. I almost finished the General Tso's chicken, which my digestive system worked overtime to process during the next 24 hours. The presentation was attractive; the vegetables were cooked with precision and were just right. The service was gracious, our beer and wine came promptly and, all in all, it was a nice dinner. Our dinner check came to about $35 per guest, including gratuity, tax and two beers or glasses of wine apiece.I believe we will go back to Sakura and try other entrees, but skip the miso soup. Chances are everyone will find something they will like.A word to the wise: do not have blood drawn for a lipid profile the day after going to Sakura. Your triglyceride level will be so high that panic responses will be activated. What about Peking Gourmet, you ask...? Once a year. You have to live a little.

I just left In Japan with the disappointing decision that will not get back there again. We love Sushi and decided to give this restaurant a try. After the fancy picking your sushi from the paper menu, we were very surprised with how fast the appetizers arrived. But that was about it. My husband's meal was supposed to come with a salad. The waitress hilarious comment was that we had ordered seaweed salad as appetizer therefore he was not giving my husband the salad. She did stop by several times to ask if I needed anything ELSE. Well, the ELSE was supposed to be my 2 sushi rolls (=my dinner) which all of a sudden disappeared from our order. Ten minutes after I asked again about my meal, she referred back to the appetizers (I guess this is what I was supposed to eat..). We cancelled my order after finding out that it was going to arrive 10-15 min after my husband finished his dinner. We did not hear an apology for the fiasco. I can not rate the meal as I did not have my dinner. I can only rate the waitress which needs some serious training.
