The Happy Dragon is a great choice for dining in with prompt service at a fair price. Portions are large and you have to be a lumberjack to eat an entire lunch. My choice is always the daily special which rotates weekly. Get the fried rice and the hot and sour soup. You'll be glad you came. Always good food.

Despite having an exceptional hotel in the Best Western Swiss Chalet, Pecos offers few desirable dining options. After reading the rave reviews of Permian Cafe on TripAdvisor, we made a point to find it (not easy) and went in with the intention of enjoying a great dinner there. We were surprised to see that it resembled a mess hall or dorm cafeteria rather than a restaurant -- no ambiance whatsoever. We checked out the self-service salad bar, which looked OK, and walked over to the hot food station. The night we stopped, all they offered was spaghetti with meat sauce and baked chicken, neither of which appealed to us, so we went elsewhere. The food may well have been very tasty, but we were looking for a pleasant place to eat as well as good food.
