Ryn [rɨn] (German: Rhein) is a town in Poland located 19 km southwest of Giżycko, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Until the reorganization of 1999 it had been assigned to Suwałki Voivodeship. It had a population of 3,062 inhabitants as of December 31, 2004.

We stayed in the north of Poland in the lakes area for a few days and found an advertisement of First Class Ballooning in our hotel and decided to go....
If you need they will pick you up and bring you back to the hotel. Setting it up on the phone was easy and friendly in English and we arrived at the take off site and went through the process of taking up the balloon and getting it ready and then off we went to amazing sightseeing for over an hour. We loved it, the kids loved it and the few other couples who were with us. Dariusz has a few balloons - from one person to 24 so if you are in the area definately take a ride

Very large aqua park with pools for kids, slides of varying difficulty degree, many mineral baths and aroma infused sauna, plus a salt infused resting place. Great for kids large and small. We spent 3 hours here as a family and had trouble leaving. Highly recommended.

We hired bikes and cycled over from Gizycko on a fab cycle path through sandy tracks, local villages and forest trails. This was fun in itself! We arrived and paid the 15zloty fee and parked our bikes at the entrance. We were offered a tour by one of the blokes by the cafe but decided to buy a guide and walk around ourselves. Be warned there is little information at the site so a tour or guidebook purchase is required to get the full benefit. We spent a good 90 mins or so following the site markers and Reading from the books, such an important site for WW2 history, and we enjoyed looking into the bunkers and imaging the decisions and life that went on their in the 1940's. I did get eaten alive by mosquito's - so spray would be a handy addition to anything you take with you if you visit in the summer. I still really enjoyed it, though I am a bit of a history nut.

The Water Tower was built in 1900 entirely of red unplastered bricks in the neo-gothic style with interesting external vaulting around its crown and two coats of arms over the entrance: one Mazurian and one municipal to emphasise its being part of the region. The water Reservoir in the tower distributed water to all the dwellings for 97 years. Nowadays, following the great reconstruction of the interior and adding a dome and three additional floors and extending the viewing platform with telescopes, the tower has become Giżycko’s most unique tourist attraction. To reach the top, one has to climb 129 steps (or use the lift). The highest floor of the tower is 162 m above sea level and it houses a café. From this height, one can truly appreciate the Panorama of the town and the surrounding areas with lakes and Forests – a typical Mazurian landscape. The inside the tower houses the local museum with exhibits that illustrate the past life of the local people.

Lovely building. Fab view from the top. Cafe with tasty treats available on the top floors. You can walk all the way up or take a lift to the floor below the top (so you will need to be able to climb stairs). Some interesting artefacts on the floors on your way up/down.

Good views of nearby heights and lakes. Nice place for a hike. There is a bar at the top serving drinks, ice-cream and food.

The Sanctuary of Swieta Lipka, former known as Heiligelinde, was founded by Jesuits in 1619. It you have the chance you have to listen to the famous pipe organ. Outside the sanctuary there are some shops where you can buy books, postcards and religious stuff

Fab bridge, opens regularly for boat traffic so pay attention to the timings! We had to cross the rail bridge and the pedestrian bridge with our bikes as we hit the boat opening each was on our cycle trip. It's a quaint bridge and a very picturesque setting. Get an ice-cream and watch the boats sail by!

Mazurolandia is an amusement park located on Mazury in Gierłoż, near Kętrzyn. It's connecting wonderful time with discovering of monuments, culture and history of the region. You can use an interesting attractons and spend a nice time in nature getting to know for exapmple Warmia and Mazury in miniature, military from II Wrold War and period of middle-ages. All in price of one ticket!

We stayed 3 km from here so we decided to check it out. We have a 2 1/2 year old, and we were with two other families whose children ranged from age 8-14. All of the children and adults had a great time! You can explore the model Castles and see on a map where they are located in Poland if you would like to visit the real palace. You can jump on a trampoline, an inflatable slide, and go around a miniature train. There is an exhibit with more information about the nearby Wolfs Lair, as well as a place where you can shoot a bow and arrow. There is a place to get a snack to eat as well.

The infrastructure build from scratch about 15 years ago in order to provide good mooring place in Mikolajki. It offers quite big port (although also quite narrow to maneuver) with 4 piers (one for private long term rental) and all facilities (toilet, showers, water refill, electricity). Apart from that many taverns, restaurants, pubs and stalls around. During the high season you should expect some events, Concerts taking place in the area around main tavern or on the Promenade (main scene might be on the raft on the lake) due to that and also due to general crowd it is not place if you want to have quiet night. Generally, I will not recommend staying there too often overnight but it is good place to stop for a few hours to stock up and see the town. As for non-sailor tourist, nice place to see yachts, eat some dinner or enjoy entertainment.

This is a very interesting historical site. I wish I had had more time to explore it. There are translations of certain exhibits etc in english and other languages. But it's not consistent. And coloured tracks were also confusing for me as they did not coincide with what was on my map. I think a good simple map with suggested routes and explanations would have been great.
