The most beautiful forest in Europe.
The last primeval forest on our continent
- with gallant and perspicacious wolves :)
- with aurochs - a large wild Eurasian ox that was the ancestor of domestic cattle. It was probably exterminated in Britain in the Bronze Age.
- with clear rivers

- with countless birds.

Nature And Forest Museum - Bialowieza National Park

Nature and Forest Museum is the oldest museum in the Polish national parks. Its traditions reach back to the interwar period, and its collection includes many precious scientific collections and rare specimens. BNP Nature and Forest Museum is housed in a modern building, which in an innovative and attractive manner exhibits natural collections, ranging from zoology, through botany ending with historic use of the forest. processes characteristic for the Bialowieża National Park receive special focus. Permanent exposition presents the most characteristic forest communities of the forest, including riverine forest, alder carr, decidous lime-hornbeam-oak forest, pine forest, boreal sprucebog), ecological processes (e.g. tree decomposition stages) and natural phenomena (e.g. extraordinary number of species of fungi and animal world). The culture related section of the exhibit is devoted to presentation of the types of historic use of the Forest over the span of several centuries (haymaking, bee keeping, processing wood into turpentine and charcoal, narrow gauge forest trains). All the nature-related issues are divided into thematic blocks with the use of realistic pictures presenting animals, mushrooms and plants in their natural environments. A number of means of expression were used during design of the said pictures: scenic light, sounds (including natural sounds of birds and large mammals), large format coloured photographs, mock-up models. Computers equipped with touch screens (so-called multimedia stands) were installed on two exposition levels with the total area of 1500 m2, providing rapid and simplified access to additional information, supplementing information provided by the tour guide. Museum is prepared also to meet the needs of handicapped people. People on wheelchairs can visit the exhibition without any problems. They can also move between the building levels thanks to a platform and a lift, which were installed in the building especially for this purpose. The blind are allowed to examine selected exhibits using the sense of touch, though exclusively after a prior curator's consent.

Interesting, nice and worth visiting! The audio-guide doesn't work properly (the headphones are broken down). There's no synchronization between what you hear and what you see (the light on each scene lights up too late in comparison to what you hear).

If you love nature you will love the Bialowieza National Park. The Park information center is very well prepared and they speak many languages. If you want to enter the reserve area you need a guide that easily can be organised by the ifo center. I'm recommending regional food at the Palace Park Restaurant as well as a hire a bicycles. The town has fantastic cycling routes. Lots of fresh air and beautiful nature.

European Bison Reservation

I have not, so I enjoyed it. So did the children. This is a semi-natural habitat, so some luck/patience is required to fully enjoy the animals from a close distance. I would recommend to do a full circle should bisons decide to hide, maybe a short picnic (there are lots of suitable places for that). Besides bisons, the animals are rather common for those who had a chance to visit this part of Europe. Modest pricing, no long walks from the parking.

Beautiful outside and gorgeous inside. You will have to wait for a service to be able to visit the inside but it is well worth it if you have the time to get there when there is a service.
The perimeter fence was being restored when we were there, so it will be even nicer by next summer.

This open air museum is great to learn how people from the region lived before the industrial era. Try to come on a day when it is not too hot, and it is not raining since you may spend here even about two hours walking between the dwellings and climbing up a windmill (great view). The entrance fee is less that $2.00

Let's start from the definition: drezyna means handcar travelling on the railroad.
By definition, you need to use your own muscles to make it moving. It's important because staff (one person) in not dealing with anything else but your safety. So you need to have at least two persons beeing able to deliver some work.
We've taken the shortest, 30-minutes route. It was not extremely hard work, the impressions were fantastic, as well as the views. We've even met a big deer, very close to the railway.
You may make a choice of different routes - up to 7 hours.
Very nice and interesting experience, I do recommend it with no doubts.

A nice place to carry on with one's exploration of Białowieża Forrest. The path is really well-built, you can easily take a trolley with you. It is rather unexplored for now, so don't worry about the crowds (nothing like Croatia's Plitvice Lakes in that regard). Hence, it is easy to relax. We walked it from the European Bison Reservation (600m or so to reach), followed by an exploration of the Białowieża itself - and in the end, we had to organize a little lottery who is the one to retrieve the car parked by the Reservation ;) The best option would probably be to reach the Reservation from Białowieża (assuming one stays there) and simply go back - except from a rather short tarmac road section, it is a lovely walk. Not a short one, it would sum up to 7km or so, but you are here to enjoy nature while walking, aren't you? Alternatively, simply arrange a one-way transit. Please note that bicycles are not the safe way to go through Żebra żubra (if I remember correctly - not even permitted) and there are no suitable places to have a picnic.
