We booked the half-board package, having the main evening meal and breakfast as our prefered option. Chefs complimentary starter, my scallops, my wifes smoked salmon, the fish of the day main course, the the cheese board and finally dessert trolley were absolutely divine.( two dessert were offered the second helping ,' tarte tartane', was drizzled in a generous helping of 'calvados')After a walk to help digestion we went to the bar for coffee, this came with little chocolate cups which madame filled with Calvados, then the owner came out came the Cavados again and a drink was offered. A very enjoyable evening made all the more so by the staff. The only downside was our lack of usable French.Point to bear in mind this is a seafood restaurant and well respected and used in the town.

We were booked into the Ibis Styles at the end of the road and arrived here to eat about 7.45pm on a Saturday night without booking. We have tried a several places to eat in Ouistreham over a number of years, not all so good. We walked past several busy bars and restaurants to eat here. Best welcome so far, we had a window table. Nice atmosphere and interesting listening to the chatter of locals and tourists alike. My husband and I had the Menu du Port the main course of which was steak with a potato cake similar to dauphinoise. Our daughter had moules mariniere followed by chocolate cake. Good service and food. Would recommend..

We stayed in Lion-sur-mer for six days - and we ate at La Taverna three times - I guess that sums up how much we enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere! We undestood that it's a family driven, all-year-round restaurant, so it won't just close down when the tourists go home - in other words, it has to serve good quality food to stay in business when the only customers are the locals. And good quality it is; honest and good tasting. In my opinion, their fish dishes is outstanding. Try the aile de raie or the sole - just wonderful! And the prices are very reasonable, too. The only thing on the menu that was quite mediocre was their desserts - except the icecream, maybe.Anyway, the desserts do not change the fact that we loved the place and that we most certainly will come back when we return to Lion-sur-mer.

We ate here on our first night after seeing it was rated top of the local restaurants. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly and attentive. We both ordered steaks and a drink and were quite disappointed with the food quality - very ordinary. Looking round, most of the diners were eating seafood!

This restaurant is right on the coast, across the road from the beach, 50 metres away.Plenty of parking spaces available.Needless to say both from the terrace and inside you have good views of the sea as you dine.Only go here if you like seafood and fish, the selection and quality are excellent. We dined here on several occassions ( evenings) in June and had great meals/food very time. A reservation is recommended so that you are not disappointed as it gets very busy, we witnessed several groups being turned away as the restaurant was full.Has a limited but reasonably priced wine list. The staff are friendly and helpful, despite being busy. Always a good atmosphere.Looking forward dining here again when we return to Normandy in September

This restaurant is furnished in a delightfully quirky fashion. The place is very convenient for the beach, has it's own parking and is very near to the Port for ferry crossings. My wife and I had booked for 8 pm for a Tuesday evening meal. We arrived and were seated by the very friendly staff. And then we were left for nearly 15 minutes before anyone thought to ask if we would like an aperitif. That is not good. Thereafter everything ran smoothly. My wife had 6 oysters followed by guinea fowl stuffed with mushrooms. She said the oysters were most excellent and the poultry beautifully cooked. I started with a "pacific fusion" style starter with seared tuna rolled in parsley and served with a soy jelly and carpaccio of aubergine. Lovely. I also tried the guinea fowl. It really was most excellent. Because of the delay when we first arrived we did not have time for a dessert. For wine I had a glass of voigner (white) and half a bottle of the red 2014 Cadillac. Highly recommended.Would we go again? Most certainly but please pick up on the service. People really do like to be asked what they would like for an aperitif as soon as they have sat down.

First impressions, as you drive up to the hotel, are not favourable. Architecturally think Motorway Travel Lodge. Having said that once you walk inside you are in a different world. This is a smart hotel that specialises in impeccable service from the moment you enter the dining room until you leave. Like many travellers on the nearby ferry service to Portsmouth we arrived after a long drive. The location was excellent both for access to the ferry terminal and also if you want a walk on the beach before dining. The staff were efficient and charming. The maitre d’ and many of the waiting team speak impeccable English. After a long drive one should hesitate before being overly critical of the beautifully presented food, so to say that the food was excellent (without being outstanding) should be viewed with that in mind . My wife and I opted for the set meal (2 courses circa 28 euros, 3 courses circa 35 euros). A starter of creamed mushrooms with truffle oil was really really good. The main course of veal steak on a bed of boiled potatoes with sun dried tomatoes was very good but not exactly inspiring. There is a small (thank God) wine list that is imaginative and sensibly priced. All in all, a very enjoyable meal in wonderful surroundings overlooking the beach and the sea.Would I go again? Yes, certainly.Dear Sir or Madam,We would like to thank you for your recent stay in our establishment and for taking the time to fill out our customer satisfaction survey. Your opinion is important to us.Our team is awaiting your comments to help us perfect our reception, accommodation, catering, and meeting services in order to fulfill your expectations and wishes to the very best of our ability. We are very pleased we made your stay in our hotel a very enjoyable and relaxing momentWe hope to welcome you again very soon, and send our very best regards.

We used to eat in one of the restaurants on the square by the ferry terminal but switched to here due to the influx of people trying to get a free ride to the UK hanging around the car park there. We have a house in France and regularly pass through Ouistreham on our way home and look for somewhere to eat a quick meal. We have really settled on this place as the food is top notch, it is served really quickly and the staff are really helpful and friendly. We have eaten here dozens of times and it never disappoints. Moules Frites is recommended as is the Veal Normande... sublime!

I was a bit dismayed on arrival when I discovered that I couldn't have my pre-ferry assiette de fruits de mer. But I quickly found that I could have all the seafood I craved in separate portions. Fantastic peppery whelks, crevettes served with a mayonnaise speckled with fresh coriander, and more varieties of Normandy oysters than I knew existed. Because the establishment is both a seafood bar and shop, you can sample a lot of products and then buy them: artisan tins of sardines, fish rillettes and - my favourite - the hand-crafted butters flavoured with smoked salt or seaweed. This isn't a restaurant per se but if you've had your seafood feast and are still feeling greedy, I can recommend their perfect lobster rolls. The decor is light and seaside modern with quirky touches, like little rubber sea urchins stuck to the wall. After our bottle of organic Muscadet, it was great to just flop into our ferry berths soon after and groan with pleasure.
