Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in Zug. Zug (German: Zug, [tsuːk] ( listen); French: Zoug; Italian: Zugo; Romansh: Zug; Neo-Latin Tugium), is an affluent municipality and town in Switzerland. The name Zug originates from fishing vocabulary; in the Middle Ages it referred to the right to pull up fishing nets and hence to the right to fish.

Althus Bistro

The city of Zug in central Switzerland is fairly well known internationally as headquarters to many multinational companies. Its Medieval part of town does not lack in a selection of restaurants, pubs and eateries, however, and as a resident of Zug, who has visited many of those places in the past, I thought that there had been missing a nice bistro with a REAL french touch, where people could eat small meals, at affordable prices and good quality. To our great surprise, we had been missing the change of management at a locale, which used to be a pub/bar, right in the heart of the old city of Zug! Out of curiosity, we reserved a table when we saw the "typical French bistro blackboard" with their day's specials, their french/mediterranean menu and heard the french accent on the owner's almost perfect German. We ended up having an excellent dinner! What a delight! We have not been back since that visit, as my husband and I have been traveling for a while, but one thing is sure, we'll be going back to the Althus Bistro because every single dish is worthwhile to try!

My wife and I went there on a week evening, while it was still warm outside, to try this place which we had always seen but always forgotten when it came to choosing a place to eat out.We were unexpectedly please by the place, both the small garden with trees (where we ate) and the inside, cosy and warm.My wife took a pizza and I took what I consider to be the stable-plate of any Swiss restaurant: the cordon bleu. The pizza was average and the cordon bleu was really bad, dry, very crusty, with meat that due to overcooking lost all of its flavour, with a strange tasting cheese... disappointing.Perhaps we should have tried the paella, but I am very hesitant to go there again after trying out the pizza and cordon bleu.I suppose this is a good casual place to go, when you don't have any better option and if you're not expecting too much...

I had dinner here - Greek salad to start - and then what proved to be a slightly overgenerous portion of vitello tonnato - I was a bit skeptical about how it looked, when it arrived. I probably should't have eaten it. That night after dinner, I was very ill - and have been for the last 4 days - hopefully now clearing. It is always difficult to be totally sure with food poisoning (where you got it), but pretty sure it was here ... maybe not helped by the very hot weather ... and not that many customers in the restaurant.

I visited the restaurant on a Monday and was there for lunch. The location is excellent, just by the lake and outdoor seating allows you a nice view of the lake. Sunny afternoon and temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius made it a perfect occasion for al fresco dining. The menu is not as extensive as I expected it to be. The pizza menu was alright but the pasta selection was somewhat disappointing.I order a glass of Prosecco and still water and was deciding between the Spaghetti aglio olio with chili and the hand made Tagliatelle with saffron sauce and prawns. I went with the later on the advice of the wait staff. While the Tagliatelle was well made and cooked al dente, the saffron sauce was lacking - only had the orangie colour without much of saffron taste. The prawns were even more disappointing. I believe they used pre-cooked frozen prawns. Looks better than it tasted. I was hungry so I finished the bowl but left unsatisfied.Perhaps a better choice would have been the pizza. The table next to mine was two ladies who each ordered one pizza and I could see them enjoying the pizza.Well, maybe next time I will try the pizza.

Came across this neat little pub and Italian restaurant when looking for lunch in Zug. They have daily specials but chose the Calzone and salad. It was perfect, crusty on the outside and cheesy on the inside. Not much English available but we managed. Seemed a very popular lunch spot with the locals and for Zug, very reasonably priced. The Calzone was excellent. Great find!

First the worst part : sound. The place is SUPER loud...really annoyingApart from that, an ok experienceWaiters/tresses were nice and smiley but clearly rushed so led to a few small issues/slownessWine list small-ish but ok priced (for Switzerland)Very large menu, lots of choices (esp in pasta/pizaa...way more reduced for anipasti)The buffala was excellentThe spaghetti were very well cooked, but I found the carbonara too creamy and lacking in meatThe tagliatelle with mushrooms were well cooked as well, but maybe with too much garlic (killed a bit the mushroom taste) Would return to try some other pasta

For a lunchtime visit at the end of May we could have expected to be sitting outside looking at Zugersee, but no, heavy rain sent us inside hoping for soup on the menu! Well, the lunchtime menu offered soup or self-service salad and bread plus a main meal for just over Chf 20, one of us had saffron/courgette risotto and the other had chicken and mushroom tagliatelle. The portion size was more than adequate and the food was very, very good.In addition the service was great, very friendly and helpful. All in all a very successful outing, with drinks and for around CHF 60.
