What can I say, you're in for an experience, a good dinner and some laughs. Cosimo cooks, serves, entertains, and puts a smile on everyones face, he guarantees to make the evening an experience to remember. This small storefront has around 10 tables inside and maybe 5 more outside. Cosimo greets you at the door like your an old friend. There is no menu, he cooks a 5 course meal, he cooks what he wants, he chooses the menu so you need to be a little food tolerant and have a palate for various dishes. There are also many paintings to browse through by local artists, not so local artists and even by Cosimo available for purchase. Some of them are pretty good. When u make your reservation he'll let u know what he's cooking the night you're coming in. If you don't like the menu reserve for another night. There is no alcohol you bring your own. Cosimo advertises the price as $35.00 per person, but bills you by pointing to each person as he says "45" , "45", "45" , "45" , $180.00. There were four of us, no paper check was presented - little quick math - it's the $35.00 as advertised plus tax, plus 20% tip. $45 sounds about right. We threw the busboy/waiter $20.00 a couple on top of the $180.00, all in $220.00We brought 2 red, 2 white, a flask of vodka, a nice moscato, Sambuca and a driver. We also brought a nice chunk of Parmigiano-Reggiano a little honey and nice fig spread which went nicely with the Olives, fresh bread, a dipping mix of olive oil & balsamic as well as tomatoes and fresh mozzarella which were all are on the table when we arrived. After enjoying a few drinks and the antipasto out came a delicious fresh salad with a flavorful dressing. Someone at our table commented that it tasted like her grandmothers. Then an appetizer of filet mignon meatballs, not sure if they were filet mignon meatballs or not but they were delicious. Next a generous order of home made pappardelle with marscopone cheese in a light tomato sauce. Then chicken with eggplant, mixed vegetables, and onions in a light red sauce, it was ok, tasty - just not something I would order. Fresh made peach pie - I'm telling u it was the best peach pie I ever had, Cosimo admitted that the desserts he serves are all made locally in Spring Lake. By time the pie was memory the music was blasting it seemed to get a little louder after each bottle of wine and as each course was consumed. Everyone in the restaurant was having a good time, it was a party atmosphere - not sure if it's that way all time or if it was just that particular night and the mix of people. Everyone was talking to each other from table to table. Then out comes Cosimo dancing around the place like Jackie Gleason - getting everybody up to dance. We're going back, it was a fun evening, good wine, good food, good laughs - good times.Make sure that when and if you go that Cosimo is in the kitchen, it's my understanding that he doesn't work everything . Enjoy.

Fratello's participates in Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, which for a fixed price, you get 3 courses. The special menu had a lot of great choices. First they bring out bruscetta and warm bread. We got the seafood cake, which was excellent. For entrees we got the Seafood del Casa and Filet Mignon. Both were generous portions. The seafood dish consisted of lobster, crabmeat, shrimp and scallops. The lobster tail perched on top of the tower of seafood tasted like it was frozen, but the accompanying lobster bits, etc., tasted very fresh. Tiramisu for dessert was delicious.

Lubrano's Trattoria

Reviewed By W8LT3R

This place is a hidden gem. Located in a strip mall anchored by a Shop rite supermarket just off Route 34 South in Manasquan. They offer great food and great service in a causal, family dining atmosphere, with an upscale menu and decor. This was our first visit to Lubrano’s Trattoria and we were very impressed. My wife was given a gift card for a meal at Lubrano’s so we decided to use it on a lazy Sunday evening. We arrived at 5PM to a nearly full parking lot but did manage to find an open parking spot close to the restaurant – one of a few spots that night. As we approached the restaurant there were some nice patio furniture – chairs and tables for two with umbrellas - on the sidewalk outside the entrance. The interior of the restaurant was divided into two sections. You enter the restaurant into the smaller section in the front which is a takeout pizzeria that does a brisk business. As we entered, a man at the counter, asked “To pick up or place an order?”. When we said we were there for the restaurant he told us we had 30 min wait. So, we gave him our names and sat on the patio furniture just outside the door. Then our waitress came out to get us after just a 10 mins. She led us into the back section of the restaurant which was a much larger, upscale dining room with dark, wooden tables and chairs and a wall of red brick with the name Lubrano’s stenciled across it. Tables were arranged in rows to accommodate small and large groups. Our waitress took us to a private table for 4 against the red brick wall. The noise level of the dining room was medium –there was significant background noise, but not so much that you could not carry on a conversation without shouting. At the start of our meal, our waitress brought us to a plate of pesto to share – that goes with the olive oil that was already on the table - and a basket of toasted, warm French bread to dip in it. The soft bread with the toasted crust dipped in the oil and pesto was delicious. To drink we both ordered the unsweetened, blueberry flavored lemonade we saw someone else drinking at another table. Drinks were served in large plastic cups with straws - which was convenient. Because of their size we did not finish our drinks in the restaurant and took them home with us - cups and all - along with doggy bags of our food at the end of the meal. For entree's, Lubrano’s offers an extensive menu of Italian dishes that goes beyond the standard pizzeria offerings of Lasagna, Meat Balls and Spaghetti, Eggplant Parmesan, etc. The menu even had a section for those who want to eat a low carb meal. I ordered the spicy, garlicky salmon with mash potatoes which was listed as a customer favorite on the low carb menu – you can skip the mash potatoes if you really want this meal to be low carb. My wife ordered the shrimp risotto. My salmon filled a large plate and the mash potatoes were artfully sculpted to look like a white pineapple with green leaves sticking out of the top as a garnish, and it was covered with garlic cloves and red sauce. My wife’s meal was equally as large with lots of shrimp over a bed of rice. Both meals were huge and delicious. The price for entrees here can run you from $15 to $35 but you get a lot of food for your money. For casual dining the presentation and the food here were more like a fine dining experience, only with a lot more food than you typically get at fine dining restaurants for the price. After eating two thirds of our meal we were stuffed and did not have room for dessert.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday this week. It was excellent. The day's weather was simply beautiful and our table overlooking the ocean was excellent. We started off our lunch by splitting the eggplant parmigiana, which was advertised as a "short plate" but was large enough to be an entrée for some people. My wife ordered the Lobster Waldorf salad and I ordered the gnocchi in Bolognese sauce. Both were great! We then capped our lunch with a chocolate mousse and tartufo and our servers surprised my wife with a sparkler in her dessert. No complaints here. The ambiance, the food and the service were excellent. Looking forward to coming back.
