Reviewed By benel2014We had a very nice time in Moncarapacho. The hotel has is located in a beautiful environment, lot of nature, trees, animals and climate. The personnel is very servant and helpful. The food is excellent and prepared with a lot of passion. Menues and dishes are excellent. The Laranjal Restaurant is a great experience. The only negative point (For what the hotel is not really responsible) is, that it is really family friendly. So there are a lot of (especially UK) families with kids, that are terribly educated... No problem during daytime, because they are not interested about the nature, herbal garden etc. and there is a adult only pool. But during breakfast and dinner it is horrible. Beautifully prepared buffet and dishes, but they load bunches of food to plate but don't finish them. Kids dipping with the finger in jam and nutella at buffet, parents don't care. Running and crying around, play with soccer ball between the tables during dinner, parents doing jokes about it. This is why we will probable not come back again (or only out of season when parents don't come for pool holiday), even though we had in general a nice experience with the hotel and their staff.

Reviewed By JRAsFishBabeWe flew into Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, picked up our car rental from Record Go, and headed off to Olhao where we would spend the next few nights at the Pure Formosa Concept Hotel. We stopped off a few times, took a picture or two, enjoyed a bit of fresh air, and then stopped in Sines for a Cappuccino and a Pastel de nata at a nice little pastelaria called Bau Doce. Refreshed we headed on down to Olhao. The Pure Formosa Concept Hotel is located at the end of Av. da Republica, just a block away from the Church of Nossa Senhora de Rosario. The location offers you easy access to the old town, which is situated close to the harbour. Everything is within easy walking distance. There is no free parking available in front of the hotel, but the good people at the desk will tell you where it is available, which is not too far away. This is a really nice hotel, the setting is grand, and the rooms are very comfortable. I didn't realize until just now, how new the hotel is, it had just opened in July 2021, we were staying the last week of November. The modern lobby shares the space with a spacious eating area, and this is where we had breakfast every morning, I believe that dinner is also served here. The rates are reasonable and I am not sure if the breakfast is included, but suffice to say it was done up very well. Take the elevator up and enjoy one of the big features of this hotel, the fabulous terrace, complete with a pool and a bar, and thrown in, the fabulous view. The hotel staff are very friendly and competent in speaking English. What else can I say? Well, there is fee wifi. What brings you to this fine city set in the eastern Algarve? I would imagine, plenty, as there is a lot to see and to do. Olhao, started out as a fishing village back in 1378 and borders a lagoon/estuary system that is now referred to as the Nature Park of Ria Formosa. The area has many beautiful beaches to start and a great deal of history accompanying them. You can take a stroll down to the harbour, passing old churches and many beautiful pastel coloured buildings. Once you're there, take a walk along the malecon. There are many restaurants and coffee shops and if you interested in buying food, or perhaps just curious in looking, walk into the Mercados de Olhao. The building which houses the market opened in 1916 and is the place to purchase produce, seafood and other meats that are all locally procured. The opening hours are from 700 to 1300, Monday to Saturday and closed all day on Sunday. One of the little restaurants which is right across from the market is P & A Restaurant/Bar. We enjoyed a nice meal, topped off with couple of fancy coffees for a reasonable 21,70 Euro, and enjoyed some nice sun while we ate and drank outside on their terrace. One day we took a boat ride with a local tour company, Passeios Ria Formosa, out to the islands, to the south of the city, cost was only 40 euros for the two of us. The trip took us to a few stops, one of which was Ilha de Armona. There isa small town here which offers food and accommodation and there is a walkway that takes you out to Praia da Armona. This beautiful beach that is on the edge of the Atlantic, stretches as far as the eye can see. There is a nice little bar here, where you can buy drinks and treats, called Molhe Leste Beach Bar, stop in and give him your business and enjoy the view. Olhao is a beautiful city set in a wonderful area, there is much to explore and enjoy. Take note of the many stork nests in the area, we were there in late November so most of the storks had flown south, but there are some still around. It is very interesting to see them perched on their nests, which apparently are their permanent homes, they do return to the same nests every year. Will we re back, yes, I believe so. P.S We found a nice little restaurant, quite close to our hotel, called O Novo Palladium, a family business, very friendly, reasonable and most importantly, very good food. Be sure to check this one out.

Restaurants and cafés can be reached through a few steps and there you can enjoy the fresh fish and seafood that characterize our region. The Fuseta Beach is accessible on foot – distance of 900 meters. The beautiful island of Fuseta, located in front of Fuseta Beach, is accessible by ferry – 5-minutes – which allows you to enjoy a small “Paradise”.

Reviewed By smsimoesTake in consideration the review is for the Bungalows and not the Island, as it is beautiful and recommended to anyone who can, specially having kids. On the arrival we were greeted by the staff who were very pleasant with us, however we were kinda like sent to the bungalow to find it. The bungalow was very simple and functional, being provided with a set of cleaning products for the kitchen and towels for the bath, and for our surprise, a set of linens for us to make the beds. The bungalow it self was in the middle of a lot of bushes, and could take more cleanup (inside and outside) as made a lot of noise whenever someone walked inside of it, as well and having very little privacy as we could ear other bungalows and others could ear us as well. For a bungalow in the small space available in Ilha de Armona, it is expected however it is not worth the value requested (but the houses to rent are even more expensive).

Excellent, warm service, care. Continental b/f. Daniel could not do enough for you, even took us to excellent resturant (Nova Ocean) which we would never have found ourselves. Does limited cafe menu, but, sorry, best eat out

Reviewed By peter rBest kept secret in eastern Algarve. Lovely hotel if a little tired in places. This was our 4th time here. Restaurant only open for breakfast and only the pool bar open. Breakfast is great with good selection of food to suit most tastes. The pool bar is great if a little expensive compared to nearby bars/restaurants. Service in the hotel is excellent, special mention for Ruben who was exceptional. The rooms are clean, bright and spacious. Our view over the town is fine if uninspiring but we didn't go there to spend all our time on the balcony. The staff are great and nothing is too much for the cleaners. Now the downside - the place needs some repainting just to brighten it up. A lot of the sunbeds need replacing. The lobby bar remains closed since covid. The restaurant does not open in the evening though for those on half board, the pool bar/restaurant provides food. There is no water dispenser in the gym and I had to buy a large bottle at the Spa reception. However these are very minor issues and none of this detracts from a wonderful 5 day break in a lovely hotel in a beautiful town. Hope to return in Sept.

Reviewed By spcndStaff are amazing. So welcoming and accommodating and our group throughly enjoyed our stay on our bike trip. The whole place is extremely clean, the rooms very comfortable and we readily did have everything we needed. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent as well !

Reviewed By carol dThe apartment was very spacious and clean. Mattresses were hard but new ones were being delivered as we left! The kitchen is nice. No cleaning products or basics, just cutlery, crockery and cookware. Balcony very spacious with a table and 6 chairs. No loungers though. There is some noise from the bars below. We were on the first floor, and weren’t particularly disturbed. Not high season, mind! Overall, a great holiday and extremely good value.

Hotel City of Olhão is a 3 star hotel located in Olhão, Algarve, just 15 minutes drive from Faro International Airport. Its location takes you to the heart of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, its fauna and flora, to the incredible shoals and golden beaches. Situated in the city center, the hotel is very close to various points of interest. To get to the bus station takes less than a minute walk to the train station and 2 minutes to the historical center and docks just 10 minutes. Recently opened, specifically in August 2016, the Hotel Cidade de Olhão offers a high quality accommodation at affordable rates with two different types, studios and twin or double rooms as well as a pool and outdoor lounge. All rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, TV, high speed Wi-Fi and high end amenities of the prestigious brand Prija. There is a new color in town, and is blue.

Reviewed By TwinknChumbWe had 8 nights in a studio for 2 at this hotel. We received a very efficient and friendly welcome and the staff were first class throughout our stay. The place is spotlessly clean and regularly cleaned. The pool area was normally peaceful and relaxing and kept immaculate. The studio was really well equipped. At first we though it might be noisy as it is so central and near the bus station. Once the windows are closed you do not hear any noise at night and there is air-cone to keep you cool. We hardly knew other guests were there from a noise perspective and we never heard noise from outside at night. The location of the hotel is excellent and there is an adequate small supermarket in the same road just past the bus station. It is also extremely central for the railway station and only about a 10 minute pleasant walk to the seafront. We did not have breakfast as we made our own or got it out, but the hotel breakfast looked nice! We would thoroughly recommend this hotel which exceeded our expectations.
