A piece of paradise

Reviewed By pescad0

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved everything about the place. I was really looking forward to staying here and was not disappointed. The location and facilities are beautiful, with amazing views and friendly staff. The food was delicious and I was very impressed to see a vegetarian and a vegan menu alongside the wide range of other choices. The dining area was beautiful, with an outside area overlooking the bay along with inside seating and bar area. The hotel has a lovely salt water infinity pool which was a treat, looking out across the sea. The other pool was very clean and had loungers around it but I didn't go in so couldn't comment more. The massage was great, up the hill in a little hut overlooking the beach- a nice treat! There was a problem with our booking and we got upgraded to the lodge- stunning!!! Bathroom was incredible and the twin room beautiful, could not fault it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and helped to organise the day trip to swim with whale sharks. It really lived up to my expectations, and I would love to go back and stay again, would highly recommend.

Relaxing stay with beautiful views!

We stayed for five nights with a three year old and 7 month old baby. Both our children were sick when we arrived and Jacques was very helpful in getting a doctor to our room within hours of arriving. The pool was clean and we loved swimming in it every day. The food was delicious and the we loved how the menu changed each day. They also did a wonderful job accommodating our vegetarian taste. Mont Passot is nearby and our three year old liked the tuk-tuk ride on the way up. Great place to relax and move slowly. :)

Even during the rainy season

Reviewed By AvaDinoMom

This place exceeded my expectations! The staff went above and beyond for every request. Even though it was the rainy season, we still had the best vacation. The rooms are clean and well appointed. There’s plenty of space between the villas, so you feel like you are on the island alone. But, if you don’t want to be alone, the staff is always available to assist with anything you might need. I felt safe and relaxed the whole time I was there. The beach is stunning and the diving is the best for biodiversity. Hiking the island provided for a good workout and amazing views. I just can’t say enough good things about the resort and the staff! They have made Madagascar one of my top 5 places in the world to travel.

Hotel Gerard et Francine

For the team of the Hotel Gerard and Francine in Nosy Be, Madagascar, reception is an art and you will be received with all of our attention, treated like family; for you we offer a comfortable atmosphere, our reputation for this style of work is irrefutable and has been for the last 25 years in Nosy Be. It is a charming establishment made of modern, cozy, clean guest rooms; snuggle up between the Crater cliffs, the long beach of Ambatoloaka and its lagoon. More than the charm of the hotel here is the charm of an extraordinary garden on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Indien Ocean where you can watch the sunset. It is on this beach, each day, that the Hotel Gerard & Francine was constructed in 1988 amongst the tropical flower gardens and the palms where we enjoy the company of freedom, lemurs, hummingbirds, chameleons. One particular area of attention is providing the decoration of your rooms, using typical Malagasy architecture, traditional construction with wood floors and creole ceilings. Suggested thoughts before your visit here: The sexual tourism is an attack on human dignity, condemned by Malagasy law and International law and the Hotel Gerard et Francine does not tolerate any such violations.

Garden Oasis in a Strange Village

Reviewed By Eric R

The garden at G&F is tremendous, and the breakfast offered yummy mango and pineapple jam. I had the impression the bill included breakfast, but the hotel applied extra charges at check-out. Also, the food was très French--heavy on the carbs. The bartender, Usa, makes an excellent mojito though. While most staff were friendly, my travel speaker was stolen out of my room when I went to the beach. Luckily, I used the hotel safe for other valuable items. The owner and manager were pretty ambivalent and dismissive of the loss which was quite disappointing. Theft has the tendency to make you paranoid and feel vulnerable. At the same time, even though the town had some excellent dining options, the village is absolutely overrun with older European men exploiting younger Malagasy women or to be honest, vice versa. If you are not into sex tourism (or some sort of related theme), you are an outlier in Ambotoloaka. I would highly suggest staying further up the western coast of the island and visiting the town for a nice meal.

The hotel is placed on the north side of the island. Beautiful bay. We chose the Sea view bungalows . Something I regret later, when I saw the bungalow on the beach. But the hotel was fully booked and no chance for change. The hotel areas is a bit far away from all the villages so it is perfect if you just want to relax at the hotel . For me it was few night too much but thanks to the activity list the hotel arrange I didn't get totally bored. fishing , 4 wheel motorbikes day trip, visit to the Lokobe reservation park . All arranged by Philippe .

Superb!

We were here for 4 nights and had the place to ourselves. The Indian Ocean was a perfect temperature, our accommodation was excellent and the food very good. We would have liked colder drinks - cocktails never used enough ice, but we were kept topped up with ice on the side, which we also added to the wine. Staff were friendly.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. It is clean, beautiful, peaceful and undisturbed. Pure paradise. We loved every minute here and enjoyed the gorgeous views and relaxing spa: just to know that most of the staff cannot speak English and that there is only very weak WiFi the reception ( but just get a Sim from the village)

We booked our room via a phone call, thanks to Mamy who organized our room with a Good rate. We were welcomed by nice cold cocktails which was really nice. The beach is extremely good but the pool is small, maybe is enough since so many guests prefer to swim in the sea. The breakfast is not good for Vegan and vegetarian guests, not at all. No body speaks English, just French and Italian. The room was big, clean and nice with a perfect bed and balcony. Many many thanks to Mamy who made a late check out for us, it was really kind of him. This place is good for families or resort lovers.

Bed looks straight at toilet (!)

Reviewed By bonne_voyage24

This is not expensive but also not what it's made out to be. We had a garden view room (only type available), and were surprised to see the 'garden' was a patch of grass in front of the road at the back of the hotel. There are roosters across that road which screech continually from about 4am, expect to wake up a lot. No view. The hidden blessing is that these rooms have an aircon unit you can use for 10 eur a night. The room looked concrete chic in the photos we saw online, but its more concrete cheap. The absolute dealbreaker is the fact that the bathroom has no door, and you look straight at the toilet from the bed. Privacy absolute zero. Pool is nice (warm!) and the staff were great. Not the best beach but nice to be right on the beach. Next door to Scuba Be, and a 7min tuk tuk to the town with bars and restaurants.
