The food was great (more later), but the view from the patio of La Sirmonde is worth the price of admission!I had a salad, and my wife a quiche. They were both wonderful. It was a drizzly/sunny day, but the awnings over our table took care of the drizzles.Service was helpful and cheerful. I'd highly recommend the place!

After touring the ochre mines we checked out the village and looked for an appropriate place for lunch. The ladies picked Le Bistrot based on the displayed menus and the terrace overlooking Roussillon. The view from the back terrace is great and if you get there a little early you should be able to get a good location, and can enjoy the view while eating. The menu has a lot to offer, and by selecting one of the Formulaâs, you can get a good deal at a good price. We had the fish dinner, the lasagna, and the hamburger formulas and all were very good. The desserts offered were particularly good offering for the prices too. The cheese plate dessert I had was interesting in that 5 different kinds of cheeses were brought out. All meals were of sufficient quantities and very tasty. Service was friendly, and otherwise what one normally expects. If you have a four footed family member with you, I would suggest selecting a table on the front terrace, as the back terrace can be cramped in high season. No problems paying with a CC. For those not aware, it is suggested to use C.C. with a chip when in France. Not all C.C. readers read magnetic strips well. I would most certainly return next trip to the village.

Staying in Le Phebus we couldnât miss its picturesque view restaurant. It attracts both in-house guests (like us) and outsiders. Led by Chef Xavier Mathieu, the restaurant offers creatively rethought region cuisine. We were delighted with the service and the staff - prompt, attentive, friendly. All tables occupied, magnificent views, relaxed ambiance. None of us four accepted the Chefâs food conception as it was presented. He claims that itâs a âforgotten classicsâ. Maybe. Pesto soup, soufflé dessert were quite ordinary. Combination of prawns and foie gras in the chefâs signature starters list turned to be a disaster - delicate raw red prawns taste was overwhelmingly drowned out by strong foie gras. The mains (fish and lamb) did not impress, and since two days we cannot recall what exactly we ate. If they got a Michelin star, itâs a misconception. We were wandering in Roussillon looked at the Trip Advisor Ratings and some were full other with not a great menu. We settled for Cafe des Couleurs. First the service was GREAT. Paul also known as Paulo Did a great job with a great attitude. The food was very good. The salade nicoise was aplenty and the tartare de boeuf excellent. The french fries are out of this world. Never any like that. Fluffy, light not greasy.The Panacota with raspberry coulis was very good and the "Baba au Rhum" would be OK for two people except when you have a very sweet tooth.Unfortunately We were not able to eat by the terrace with the view but anyway the food was very good.

Wednesday, so several restaurants are closed. Never mind, La Treille is open! They have a limited but well balanced menu. Today's specials were lamb shank served with mashed potatoes with olive oil, and salad. The other, market fish of the day was seated ted tuna, provencal vegetables, cous cous and salad. We enjoyed both main courses and finished with a Panna cotta, and an apple tart with cream. Coffees, a half litre of excellent house white wine altogether cost Eu74, around £66, good value!Service was polite and friendly, the cooking was spot on, which is one reason why I like to see a small menu in a small restaurant.Helpful hint- there are only around 12 tables outside on the terrace, so arrive early! Also, marvel at the 169 year old vine growing up the outside of the restaurant.

Selected this restaurant for our first night on holiday and very glad we did. five of us (some fussy teenagers included) enjoyed everything on the set menu...the filet mignon de porc en croute was particularly good. Good portion sizes and really tasty. Good value too, including the excellent local rose. And the owner and staff could not have been more helpful. Definitely one to go back to

Perfect presentation, well-cooked food and thought-provoking flavours make this restaurant worth a visit. There is an experimental air to the cooking, which doesnât always work, but the chef can be forgiven because ingredients are first rate and presentation really is impressive. Service was charming and unfussy and the view of the red rocks of Roussillon breath-taking.

Good food but dreadfully slow service. Took well over an hour for a simple lunch special. Appetizers and main course came quickly but dessert was another 45 minutes. Ok if you want to spend a leisurely afternoon there but parking in the village lot had a time limit.
