First of all, he is happy and he loves children. His art is unique and beautiful. I love that he takes the substrate (literally) around him and blends on canvas to make something amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit - well worth the 45 min drive out of our way to see the town and meet the artist. Highly, highly recommend.

Up a ridge, sits the lovely town of Roussillon. Rather distinct with its ochre hues as opposed to the paler stone elsewhere in Provence. The brilliant colors take on a striking appearance towards evening with the sun on it. The color of the earth is also seen in the buildings in the town.
There's parking (paid) at the entrance to the town.

I never expected this. The colors are amazing. What a surprise. Go for it. It is a gorgeous place . Ochr color of the sand. There is a path making the walk quite easy.

Rustic, colorful hilltop town visible from long distance as its red-ocher cliffs and village structures set it off quite well. The town itself is much like others in Provence---small shops, wonderful cafes and restaurants, fantastic views of the countryside and warm ' engaging residents.

The Ocres is a remnant reminder of previous industrial endeavours of the area,which has left a vista for the tourist industry. The colours are very different from other parts of France, and I suggest you let your imagination run riot, to conjure up different patterns in the formations. Could be a bit slippery when wet. Try to read up about the history of the area before going there.

Stroll the amazing alleys of Ocre village of Roussillon . Walking up the hill calmly , don't miss this humble , small , extraordinary and beautiful church . Take a few minutes break here , and continue to the "Gallery des Ocres" and the stunning windy lookout just behind and around it .

A story that begins in 1830 ... At the beginning of the 19th century, the Brémond family set up its confectioner's workshop at the 36 cours Mirabeau in Aix en Provence. The Maison Brémond is then one of the great houses that trade almonds. It produces the famous calissons of Aix as well as confectionery and proposes an offer of delicate grocery and rare products at the time, like spices and coffee. From father to son, MAISON BREMOND has always rigorously selected its raw materials from the best producers to offer its customers real products. In 1973 the Borrelly family took up the torch. Following a fire, the store was moved to 1986 rue d'Italie in Aix-en-Provence, where it is still today. Then, the Borrelly family withdrew in 1999 and entrusted the company to another known Aixoise family: Mme and Mr Farine owners of the Confiserie du Roy René. Maison Brémond Fils was taken over in 2015 by Olivier Baussan and his family, Founder of Occitane in Provence, Oliviers & Co and the Ecomusée l'Olivier in Haute Provence. Olivier Baussan is always seeking to build a sustainable development of a territory by respecting the know-how of women and men who seek to perpetuate their traditions all around the Mediterranean. Already strongly involved in the development of lavender, olive tree or almond tree, it is now in the very beautiful and very old HOUSE BREMOND that he invites you to enter.

A very quaint boutique that specializes in olive oil, biscuits, and other food amenities. We did an olive oil tasting led by Celine. She was outstanding as she helped us determine which oils we may like and offering us tastings.
We would have bought more olive oil, but we could only carry so much back. We also bought a 4-pack of ketchup which was waaaaay better than the stuff we have in the states.
I recommend seeking out this shop and spending some time investigating their products.

When my husband and I were staying near Rousillions in France recently, we spotted a sign for a vineyard not far from our gite. We decided to pop in one afternoon. And we were thrilled that we did!
Having not been sure it was open when we first approached, we were then greeted warmly by the owner and her daughter. They took us in to see some of the production area, and then into an area where the barrels are stored. In this underground area, we were also shown a series of amazing models of French scenes with an incredible level of detail, that had taken several years to construct - unusual but interesting!
We were then taken up to a tasting room (a large room with an impressive view, which is also used for wedding breakfasts) where we were offered a huge variety of wines to try. We discussed each one at length and thoroughly enjoyed the wines and the conversation. Our one regret was that we could only buy a couple of bottles due to luggage restrictions!
If you're visiting the area, this is a domaine not to be missed.
