All cources are prepared with passion and knowledge and respect for the ingredients. The cook loves to cook and serves all course with creative details and a wide pallet of distinctive tastes. We had dinner 2 evenings. The 30 cheeses and wines are also an adventure good wine lovers.

We came into Tours to see an exhibition, and took the opportunity to celebrate a birthday with a return trip to La Roche Le Roy. We knew it had acquired a new chef after the previous chef sold up and retired. We were not to be disappointed. We both went for the reasonably priced business menu for lunch, a terrine starter, fish for main and an amazing "rice pudding" for dessert, all excellently cooked and presented.We were a little surprised to be given a menu in English, but on reflection we do look very English even if we have lived in France a long time and our gastronomic French is pretty good (though we still struggle with the grammar!) The meal was accompanied by an very good half bottle of Menetou-Salon, and the service was superb and faultless. The restaurant may have lost its Michelin star when the old chef (Alain Couturier) retired, but good luck to the new chef (Maximilien Bridier) in his new venture and I am sure that will soon be corrected.Dear Customer, Thank you very much for your comment, it was a pleasure to welcome you at La Roche le Roche as always. No worries, French grammar is difficult and even some french people have issues with it. It will be a pleasure to welcome you again, maybe with a new Michelin star and menus in French. Having enjoyed the very fresh and great quality of the seafood platter last time we decided a retour would be good.Again, freindly, quick and efficient service. We chose a dozen Nr.2 oysters - super fresh and well prepared, followed by the Cassoulet de Saint Jacques (very tasty and plenty of St Jacques) and the dry aged steak - very hard to find beef aged long enough in France and very, very delicious.This is a family run restaurant for families, it's does not pretend to be posh but it does do what it says on the box - Excellent quality ingrediants, fresh, well prepared and served quickly by freindly staff.Dear Customers,I want to thank you for choosing The Portofino for your recent lunch or dinner. As we were staying in the Camping Municipal close by in Montbazon we decided to have dinner here in "LA aTable D'Ysoa". A delightful little place, tucked away in a little 'back Street', that was the only thing 'back street' about it. We had a tremendous evening meal, food was delicious & service was magnificent!!A lovely 'little surprise' early on in our Vacation...When we had finished our meal & had complimented 'Le Chef' on our meal only to discover that he was also 'La Patronne'.... Well done!!A must visit kinda Place!!!

The owners and management has changed and unfortunately this place has gone down the drain.The meal consists of cheap quality frozen food that due to a lack of turnover has gone iffy. As usual had the foie gras what a disappointment it now leaves a "GRAS" (fatty) after taste. The crumble of endives tasted sour like turned milk :-( The salmon and scallops were of the cheap frozen type, no take and rubbery, so bad we actually left without eating. Service, let's not even go there.This place is a serious runner up in my worst meals - what a shame it used to be so pleasant.
