Only one night.....sadly

Spent a night here and unfortunately were unable to extend when we decided to spend a 2nd nt on hte right bank. Lovely property, well-restored with ample "public space" both inside and surrounding the chateau for the five guest roooms. Breakfast was ample and included choice of eggs along with breads and baked goodies. Staff was outstanding and engaging, doing more than "just their jobs" and took the time to explain the origin/background of some of their homemade preserves. While we were in one of the smaller ground-floor rooms, there were plenty of outlets and the bathroom was spacious with good pressure and a large shower. The wine was okay, but their cave system is one of the more unusual in the area, and of course when you deduct the cost of a visit/tasting from the tariff, its a very reasonable stay. Would certainly return.

A Great spot in the Bordeaux Region of France: Clos 1906

Reviewed By Don C

My wife an I recently spent 5 nights at a small B&B just outside Saint Emilion in the Bordeaux Region of France. The Clos 1906 is a renovated 18th century manor house with four rooms in the main house and an apartment separate from the main house. Our room was the Suite Saint Emilion which was beautifully appointed. It is a very large room, particularly by Paris standards. In this case the room is approximately 35 square meters, with more than enough closet space and other spaces for luggage. The windows look out across the small road to one of the many vineyards that encompasses the Bordeaux region. The bathroom was perfect. A separate toilet room both a tub and a separate shower, separate sinks...in short it is more than adequate. In addition, breakfast is served daily in the main house or in the garden (weather permitting). The breakfast includes coffee/cappuccino, bread, jams/butter, croissants, juice, fruit and yogurt....jambon ham and cheese is also available. Eduard, the owner and what I like to say, the "chief cook and bottle washer" overseas breakfast with one of his staff members. Eduard is super. A terrific host, very knowledgeable of the Bordeaux region and can give you a quick crash course in the differences in the wines of the right and left bank, and the complicated classification system that exists for French Bordeaux wines.. He recommends restaurants, day trips and oversees the antique store on premises. As I said the chief cook and bottle washer...and most importantly, he's a real gentleman.. The inn is perfectly located, in fact it's only a 15-minutes walk to the village of Saint Emilion and a 45-minute or so drive to Bordeaux. Feel like taking it easy, no problem, you can relax in the beautiful garden, take a dip in the pool or have a picnic lunch. It's just the perfect place to explore the Bordeaux region. This is our "go to" place to stay in Saint Emilion...hope you make it yours.

My partner and I stayed at La Gomerie for one night during our travel through France and we are extremely happy with the service received by the very welcoming host Jean Francois. La Gomerie is a little gem near Saint Emilion, it is a beautiful house very well converted and the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with extra touch here and there to make them different. The breakfast was the best we had during our journey. I loved the fresh fruit and fresh pressed orange juice, rare to find nowadays in hotels. We will definitely go back. I would give 6 stars if 5 was not the limit ;) Laura and Patrick from UK

We had the pleasure of spending three days at La Maison Collin, 24/25/26 September. Gilles and Blaise were so friendly and hospitable. La Maison Colline is centrally located in St Emilion. You can walk everywhere. There are great restaurants in town which our hosts recommended and book for us. The house is full of old character, with exposed beams and steep staircases. Our room was at the top of the house with a large comfortable bed, an ensuite bathroom, a spacious seating area and a view into the charming courtyard below. I would recommend this Guest house/ hotel.
