Le Clos du Roy

Located in the historic village of Saint Emilion, this is a very special gourmet restaurant. The chef/owner is young and inventive. Creative and beautifully designed dishes. Excellent wine list. The dining area is upstairs decorated beautiful. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable of the cuisine. Prices are fair. They open at 7:30 PM. Located below the Central Square in one of the meandering tiny streets. Several different prefixed menus. Check out the photos of the one I chose. Duck cooked for 24 hours. Fried duck liver salad. Mushroom and polenta strips with truffle bubbles. Apple purée wrapped in crispy chocolate with coffee ice cream.

L'Envers du Decor

Right in the heart of this historic and beautiful town. Cosy, welcoming and with a very solid kitchen; unpretentious but imaginative, authentic and delicious. Predictably fabulous wine list, but that's as surprising here as discovering Germany builds good cars. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. 3 courses for lunch x2, 2 small glasses of wine, water, coffee, one digestif was 180 Euros, which felt OK for the quality. Well worth a visit if you're not counting the pennies.

We had dinner here, following a recommendation from the same hotel where we stayed. Good news to have, at least, one restaurant opened at St. Emilion, being in the middle of low season. We ate some different specialities (foie, soup, sausage, omelettes, fromages, etc...) and they were simply OK. Nothing special to remark. And not a cheap or economic restaurant. Good service, very kind.

The meals my husband and I chose were very different but they were all lovely. I chose 'heartier' meals that were generous and familiar (escargot in a tomato base and Coq-au-vin with something like pasta) but very tasty and my husband's choices (fish tartare and then duck) were more artistic but taste sensations. We had a really nice night and left feeling thoroughly spoilt!

Le Trouher Creperie Bretonne

Reviewed By mrsvickyaltaie - Singapore, Singapore

We were in the mood for some crêpes and this crêperie was recommended to our in-laws, so we decided to check it out. The interior is very pleasant, maybe even romantic, and they also have a small Terrace out back which has about 3 to 4 tables. They have quite a list of savoury and dessert crêpes to choose from. We were 4 adults and a toddler (they have a booster seat for little kids,so yey!) and we each had a set menu which consists of one main + one dessert crêpe. To be honest, I didn't think the crêpes were extraordinary, but then again, we didn't try everything. They were good, yes, but not exceptional. The portion is huge though, so you'd better bring your appetite with you when you dine so you won't have any leftovers. We had two bottles of cider which turned out to be a lovely and refreshing complement to the food. But more than the food, we found the staff (it was a guy and I forgot his name) to be such a jolly fellow! He was very friendly and chatty with the customers.

We had poached eggs and foie gras to start. Delicious scallops with beautifully presented veg for the main and creme brule for pudding. They provided a lovely Bordeaux white with starter and an excellent full bodied red St Emilion with the main.
The interior is carved out of limestone, very authentic and the service just right.
Well worth a visit

It was freezing all morning and after seeing several sights we decided to warm up in here over lunch with a hot chocolate. Food was great, reasonably priced but sophisticated. One guy helped us specifically with translation and very friendly. Hot chocolates were delicious and the dessert was soooo yummy. Strongly recommend for casual dining/lunch.

Beautiful restaurant, centrally located in Saint-Emilion. We had the Chef's Tasting Menu and we were both blown away by how delicious each course was. Seriously not a bad or mediocre one course. We highly recommend the Chef's Tasting Menu! Wines are excellent as was the service. Don't miss eating here!!

My boyfriend and I had dinner here while staying in the Saint Emilion region. There is a lovely atmosphere and great music here, also with great decor, I love the barrels used as tables in here, and the Fountains are beautiful. I had the warm Camembert salad with prosciutto and my boyfriend had the steak and baked potato, and we also shared the charcuterie plate which had a great selection of cured meats. This is a wine bar, and it has a fantastic selection of regional wines. We had the creme brûlée dessert which was delicious, especially because they used actual vanilla beans! The service was also great, our server was really sweet! Overall great wine bar; and good food.
