Some six years ago I was in Merida for a friendâs wedding and was first introduced to this friendly well stocked German themed bar then.On returning to Merida a few weeks ago the Bremen was our first port of call, but it had moved, only to larger premises next door. The new Bremen is a vast improvement and cleverly incorporates an outside smoking area that although isolated from the main bar, does allow smokers access to an extended bar.As the name Bremen suggests there is a strong German theme throughout. The bar stocks beers from all over Europe and possibly beyond, and is run by two cheerful brothers. Prices are sensible and generous tapas is served with drinks. Over the course of some six days we used this bar each day, it is easy to find and being centrally located is a convenient meeting place. The highlight of our visits was to watch the Athletico Madrid â Leicester City football match. The bar owners are fanatical Madrid supporters but the fantastic atmosphere was incredibly friendly. When Leicester lost we were presented with a traditional German beer filled glass boot (similar idea to the British yard of ale)as a booby prize.Should you ever be in Merida and are not too impressed with fizzy cerveza, I strongly recommend that you seek out the Bremen. You will be spoilt for choice.

Fantastic decoration, great concept. The ultimate respect for the animal is to enjoy its parts on a plate. The idea of combining various traditional foods vendors in one place and making it easy to pick various products of various styles is always good. There might have been more beef items one the menu however an honestly displayed and explained distinction of cow and bull did of course make the cow experience excellent. Though it may seem a little bit slow day that should not be excuse for turning the bæind eye to customers smoking inside, hopefully it was the exception that proofs the rule.

This bar is very highly rated in TA. The reviews in Spanish describe it as "traditional with excellent food and service." We completely agree. We had the Oxtail stew (Rabo de Toro) which is the dish the reviews recommend. It was delicious, the meat was super tender literally falling off the bone. We had the half ration and it was plenty for 2 people. Tapas are only 1 Euro. The service was very attentive. We asked the owner for a recommendation for a red wine. He recommended a local wine (a Tempranillo variety) which was a full-bodied wine that we enjoyed very much. We highly recommend it for a quick lunch or dinner. Is a very good option if you want to stay away from the touristy restaurants.

Estuvimos muy agusto, comimos muy bien y nos trataron genial. La comida estaba increÃble y los cafés que preparan son perfectos. El mejor sitio de Mérida para pasar un buen rato en familia y con amigos. 10/10.

New tapas bar just in front of the national roman museum and teatro romano.Ingredients are just from around the corner, regional food cooked by a local chef.The ibericos tapas are really tasty and from 100% iberico pork. Regarding the more thorough dishes I would recommend the tapa with prawn, jamón and quail egg over a potato base. This mix is just unquestionably tasty. Moreover, solomillo mit torta d la serena cheese is delicious for the queseros (cheese lovers).Please, do not forget the desserts. They are so big you cannot eat by your own, and the taste... my goodness! My favourite is the cheese cake and the chocolate one.Regional shots are welcome after that kind of feast. Talking about wines, I would say that let you be recommeded by the experts. Try only the huge assortment of the regional wines from D.O. Ribera del Guadiana.I will definitely came back!Desde la casona queremos agradecerle su opinión. Muchas gracias por compartir con nosotros un ratito de su valioso tiempo. Perfect to drink a beer with tapas in the city center. Young Staff and good attention. The terrace is perfect to feel the movements of the People in that lovely city. We recomend that restaurant. Good quality on their tapas!!

We came here in a very hot day in Merida and sat at the bar for drinks. Ordered a iberico jamon, tuna ratatouille and a secreto grilled pork loin. The latter was quite good especially with the chips. Overall, very cool place to hang out on a hot day in Merida.
