Hog's Breath

It must have not been our night ... service was dreadful !!! .. food average .. the salad and veggies are no longer included with the steaks .. not even with the $ 42-00 spare ribs .. it comes as an extra cost of $ 4-95. The mushroom salad was served without dressing and when we asked for some extra dressing ... again service was veeery poor !!!! On the steak with the avocado there was not even a quarter of an avocado and the steak was very average indeed !!! Not happy with our outing to Hog s breath in Kelmscott at all !!! We used to come here quite often but for that sort of service and money spent we will look elsewhere in the future !!!

Really delicious meals! I can recommend, first-hand, the ham croquettes and the fritters. Brilliant coffee too. Menu had an enjoyably diverse selection of meals across their breakfast and lunch offerings. The dining space and surrounding gardens are also spectacularly serene and conducive to a relaxed brunch catch up.Thanks for the great feedback Nick.

The food - very little creativity and at times bland.Decor - Seriously why can't they see how tired it all looks. They have a whole pile of rubbish stuffed into one corner near their bar. The table set up looks more like a cafeteria - Its like the owner needs to walk into good restaurants around town to do a bit of benchmarking. Its as though he/she can't even see how things have gone lacking. The restaurant has a vista over a portion of the hills but uses it poorly.Service is fine but in terms of how service is delivered in better restaurants - well this is lacking and really it comes down to the training staff receive - the staff themselves were polite and lovely. For the very average food you get, you pay a fine dining price-tag.

Our family of six went for a Birthday dinner to the Dale (formerly The Fox and Hounds in Armadale) We all enjoyed a really good value meal. Ordering was through the bar but was very quick and efficient. The prices were excellent.I had surf and turf at a really good cheap price. Steak was very good cooked to my liking and served with prawns and a nice salad.Certainly a place to return to.

There are many great restaurants in the Chapel Street area and so for a Pub to do well says a lot.I have been there a number of times and the chef is providing consistent, good quality food, much better than you would normally expect. The interior was upgraded recently and now the ambience is warm and inviting.Add the service that you experience and that makes for a good night out.One tip I would make is if can, book ahead.

Last minute decision to go out for dinner. Restaurant ambience and styling is lacking, it’s new, so we assumed the dining room is not fully complete. The service was excellent and the menu has plenty of variety. Hubby ordered his steak cooked blue, and was very impressed with what came to the table...perfectly seared and exactly as ordered. It’s very rare to order a blue steak and it not be over cooked. I had the chicken waffles, thought I’d try something different. I wasn’t a fan, that’s not to say others wouldn’t be. I found the sweet maple sauce just dominated everything else on the plate, is was far too sweet and there was far too much of it. It made the “crispy” chicken and the waffles soggy. My dish was also missing the crispy maple bacon that was detailed on the menu-no biggie. I think this dish could work, but my suggestion is to ask for the maple sauce to be served on the side so the individual can decide how much is enough. All in all, it’s a good local restaurant, with good service and good food...husband will definitely return for steak! FYI: if you’re looking for a quite place to eat, this isn’t it. It has a designated children’s play area and it is noisy!!!!!

Haynes Bar and Grill

Heading through Armadale on the Armadale Road, i looked up TripAdvisor to see what was in the area, I found Haynes Bar and Grill, located just off Eighth Road. So we pulled in and walked in to grab a table, the waitstaff were so happy and helpful. We ordered some cheesy garlic bread to share and I ordered the lamb shank and my friend the Chicken Fettuccini. Unfortunately for us, we were sat near the dessert display, and those gorgeous desserts kept calling to us. It wasn't too long and we had received our cheesy garlic bread which curved our desire for the desserts. Then not much of a wait when our main meals arrived, both our meals looked yummy. The only bit i can fault is that the Lamb shank, the menu said it came with gravy but the lamb shank I received had more of a spicy sauce over it. (I am not one for hot spicy foods - just a personal taste thing) but otherwise the lamb was tender and falling off the bone, and my friends chicken fettuccini was tender and creamy. When we finished up we both decided to jump in and get dessert, I cant remember the names, but they where rich and very indulgent, no dinner for me tonight. For two with a starter, main meals, desserts and drinks $99.50 Thank you for a great lunch out.

Excellent service from the young waiter, attentive and friendly. Meal was fine, not spectacular. Salt and Pepper squid, well cooked and tasty, served on a pretty plain salad. The inside room was comfortable, although the decor was a little old and dated. Prices were very reasonable. I'd definitely eat there again.

I ordered the spelt pizza for $19. When it arrived it was one single slice of very greasy pizza with a whole heap of salad items on the side. My partner asked for a takeaway cup so that she could take her drink away and the staff tried to charge her for a paper cup. She enjoyed her vegan burger, but again, the portion size was very small considering the price. Considering you can order an entire vegan pizza from somewhere like crust for the same money, I don't think we'll be back.Hi Rob, thank you for taking the time to write the review. Firstly, our menu clearly states that the spelt pizza is a slice served with a trio of salad. As we use seasonal roast vegetables and cheese, the grease content should have been low. We are a small local organic cafe specialising in fresh, organic healthy meals, crust is a large chain store with over 50 stores, they are not organic and therefore there really is no comparison and we never want to be the same as them. The takeaway cups cost us $0.20 each, and our mission is to stop the war on waste, we don't make any profit on them. However, when your partner explained it was for her beetroot latte she purchased, I gave it to her for free....Our vegan burger comes on a large focaccia bun with salads, tempeh, sauce and onion, I'm not sure how the portion size can be any bigger for $19. Once again, thank you for your feedback.
